TV Series or Show You're Watching

Not really getting into this anymore

Same here. I'll probably go back to it though.

For this evening:

King & Conqueror (2025) . Episode 1. With Jaime Lannister as Duke of Normandy.

It's a really of a constant rewatching of Firefly really. I just can't get enough of the show, and when I want admittedly some background noise that's a TV show, I turn it on. I need to get through the X-Files sometime too, as it was growing on me.

Episode 5 of Alien : Earth is a cracker. The series is gearing up to be one of the best versions of Alien to date. Suspenseful and rather icky at the same time.

MASTERS OF HORROR

2 seasons ( 1st on PLEX , 2nd on SHUDDER UK )

Mostly short stories from renowned authors set to screen by renowned directors . Joe Lansdale , HP Lovecraft , Richard Matheson , Stuart Gordon , Dario Argento , Tobe Hooper , Joe Dante to name a few .

Bit of a mixed bag , but overall entertaining anthologies . Some stories lent on black humour and I felt the outright horror ones were better . Generally recommended even if you are just dipping in and out .

Gosh, that goes back a bit. Remember some of those on late night TV back in the mid-2000's?

I’ve been watching the Season 2 of Wednesday on Netflix, and I think they have done a pretty good job of continuing and expanding the story, while still keeping the aspects of the show that make it special. Jenna Ortega keeps her focus on her character, and pulls off the deadpan delivery and desert-dry humor that we have come to expect from her. Enid grows as a character as well, and faces a potentially lonely fate as an Alpha Werewolf.

In this second season, we see more of the Addams Family at Nevermore. Morticia and Gomez move to campus, and Pugsley becomes a Freshman. There’s a new character, Agnes DeMille, played by Evie Templeton, that really stands out. Billie Piper and Joanna Lumley also join the cast. Overall, it’s a great Season, possibly better than the first.

Bit of a 'meh' week on the TV series this week for me.

Finished the latest season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, with an odd episode; not sure what to make of it, although there are links to other Original Series ideas. Wasn't entirely convinced after a season that I've enjoyed on the whole;

Same with Foundation, Season 3's final episode. from what I remember, we're way off the books at this stage; great acting, but not entirely sure of the story.

Even Alien: Earth, which has been very very good so far, seemed to hand in a 'middle series' episode where the overall plot progressed but slowly. Felt a little like filling in time. Good, but...

Mel Brooks and Dick Cavett Together Again (2010)

Funny stuff here. Carl Reiner shows up to explain the origins of the 2000 year-old-man routines he and Brooks did in the 1960s. Brooks and Cavett reminisce about each other and the people they've known. Brooks talks about the movies he's made, including an anecdote or two about Hitchcock and High Anxiety. Brooks was 84 when this was filmed, and he moves and talks like a man 20 years younger; Cavett, 11 years younger, looks more Brooks' age.

If you haven't seen it and get a chance, do.

Yeah, my wife and I do this all the time with old series. Did Files and Firefly last year. Running old episodes of Ghost Hunters lately and an occasional Forged & Fire.

Well with Firefly it's like an obsession. Re-watch Firefly or watch a new episode of X-Files? (New meaning new to me)... Firefly, and I've watched it so much that when I listen to it, I know the scene and so on by heart so I don't need to watch it, just have it on for background noise and the like.

MIDNIGHT MASS ( Mick Flanagan ) Netflix UK

Seven part limited series . A slow burn horror story which really ramps up during episodes 6 and 7 . Perfect for the dark evenings ahead . Recommended .

I agree this is good and worth watching.

We're 3 or 4 episodes in, but lately distracted by baseball. :)

I’ve started watching Alien Earth on Hulu, and two episodes in it’s surprisingly good. It’s certainly gory, and as horrifying as expected. However, it has found ways to bring new material to the Alien franchise, as well as expand the lore in ways that are consistent with what we already know of that grim and dark universe. It expands on themes that were previously explored, while telling its own story. So, while I have no idea how they are going to bring this into alignment with the rest of the movies, I am along for the ride. All the new creatures are absolutely horrifying, but of course our classic xenomorph takes center stage.
