TV Series or Show You're Watching

I managed to get through the first eight episodes of Discovery before packing it in. Looks like I'll only manage seven with Picard.

I just started the alternative history series For All Mankind on Apple TV+. This was created and written by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi. The production values on this series are incredible! The premise is a different space race where the Soviet Union made the first manned Moon landing, having managed to send a Cosmonaut to the lunar surface between Apollo 10 and Apollo 11. This series is also an impressive period piece that brings the viewer right back to 1969. They have some amazing cars and music! I understand the show runners have a long term plan for the alternative history in the series, that shows a NASA exploring space in a very different way than we are familiar with. I’m ready to see where it goes!
 
Picard episodes 8 and 9 (not so great)
These 2 seem to be filler episodes designed to save money- relatively low on the special effects and they've resorted to one actor playing multiple parts- the captain in 8 and data's daughter in 9.

To be fair I hit the fast forward button for most of 8 apart from the 7 of 9 arc. The other story just didn't seem interesting. They just take the attitude of 'weird plot? here's a pretty guy with a sword.'

I may have missed something but I thought the damaged borg cube was meant to be a place housing millions of romulan refugees. Surely venting most of it into space and then crashing it into a planet would cause mass loss of life? Not even touched on.

Not much happened for the rest of episode 9 apart from a deus ex machina revelation that skynet exists and can save the androids at the expense of organic life. Cue possible Malcolm X vs Martin Luther King arguments, just not written well.

I think the news over the last week and social impact of the current bug is more trek than this show. One more episode remaining with all the special effects budget to use up.

Agreed. These seem to be filler towards the big episode at the end.

I just started the new Amazing Stories anthology TV series on Apple TV+. This one is by Steven Spielberg and is essentially a new version of the 1985 series of the same name. Production values are impressive, as might be expected.

The first episode “The Cellar" is a timey wimey romance that spans the century between 1919 and 2019. Things don’t turn out as expected, but there is a happy ending anyway.

So far so good. It is expected that there will be ten episodes in the first series (season).
 
After watching the two part Picard finale I'm officially done with Star Trek. (I hated the rebooted Abrams films and didn't watch any of the post-Voyager series.)
 
Happy that season 3 of Ozark is now available on Netflix - such a great series so far, first episode in and this is promising to be good too.

If you haven't seen any of the post Voyager stuff, may I recommend the later seasons of Enterprise to you?
Skip seasons 1 and 2 except the finale of S2. Season 3 is a decent continuous arc with the crew looking for an unknown race that deployed weapons of mass destruction against Earth. By season 4, it's like they knew they were getting cancelled and gave the show to an actual star trek fan and there's a number of awesome 3 episode arcs in there- Vulcans, Romulans, the genetric engineered people from Wrath of Khan. Only done well

Didn't make it through the first season's first episode a couple of years ago. Now giving Ozark another shot. Pretty good so far.

Finished the series of Picard and I think I'll not bother with any more. This was a single or two-part episode at best, stretched out to ten episodes without providing anything to engage the viewers. The last episode was very plodding and predictable in every way.

Have you seen that article where Chabon 'explains' Picard? He lays the blame at Patrick Stewart's feet saying Patrick didn't want to do TNG again. :rolleyes:

Might explain why Chabon's decided not to be a showrunner for the Second season?
