Retrospective on the first decades of the show and I have been a fan of the show for most of last 30 years and don't know when I last laughed so much. By the way They show Boris being cut to bits both as a contestant and as the host

Watched Episode 8 from House of the Dragon and it was excellent and as good as the past few episodes; this one has the new next-generation actors as it takes place some 6 years or so after the last and it's clearly the last one that jumps in time at least for now. Very strong performances from all, but especially from Paddy Considine playing King Vyseris and the uncle/nephew pairing of Daemon and Aemond (second son of the king who in the last episode lost and gained important things, while the process of doing so sparked the first major open confrontation between the factions; and of course if it worked once, why not do it the second time and here in his attribute toast to his nephews/cousins while it was clear which the third such will be, it was really effectively delivered). Anyway, the show has been moving from strength to strength and I am really curious to see how episodes 9 and 10 can top what came before.

Watched Werewolf by Night, Disney's Marvel offering for Halloween. Quite enjoyed it - had a Universal Monsters feel, deliberately, I think. Would like to see more.

Also started watching Penny Dreadful, which I tried before and then left for some reason. Enjoying it more this time around - particularly Timothy Dalton and Harry Treadaway as Doctor F.

Started watching Train, Korean cop/science fiction/time travel/dimensional/alternate reality/whatever you're having yourself adventure. Looks good so far. It's a about a train.

I know I already mentioned it, but I really must recommend Train most highly. For a series with clearly almost no budget, no effects, and I guess unknown actors (though what do I know about Korean TV? Maybe they're stars) it's bloody brilliant. I'd put it on a par with maybe The Time Traveler's Wife or even 12 Monkeys in terms of execution, writing, plot and suspense, and the amount of times it wrong-foots you. Superb and really worth watching. Odd though, to see the contrast between Korean and American/British cop drama. Everyone bows, everyone calls their superior "Mr." or "Ms" and there's really very little in the way of slam-your-badge-and-gun-down-and-stalk-out-of-the-office.

Yes, it's an interesting cultural contrast. I quite liked Stranger because the main protagonist's super power is that he is rude to everyone

Watched Episode 9 from House of the Dragon and it was excellent and as good as the past few episodes; a bit surprising that it didn't have some of the main characters in it and with an ending that is going to be quite controversial, but one that I personally found it quite believable, because it's easy to talk in the abstract about killing a few to save many in the future and actually doing it - in a way that was one of the themes of the episode and the difference between those who actually did it and those who didn't or refused to countenance eventually doing it at least for now.

Very strong performances from all, the Queen of course, but also Aegon and Aemond and all the rest, and as in the past episode more people taking a stand for what they believe in and paying the ultimate price for it. From the look of the trailer, episode 10 announces to be a true cracker and of course, after that withdrawal symptoms since it will be likely at least 2 years until the next season...

As a complex Fantasy I quite like it.
I even agree that individual performances are excellent.
As a worthy successor to the original series. (At least all but the concluding episodes)

It lacks the development of character and the individual gradual entwining story lines that made the first series exceptional.
Here we have a gradual developing struggle for power among several relatively strong but basically bland individuals.
As I said, I liked it. Just disappointed, as is often the case, with sequels to really exceptional works,

I just started Acapulco Season 2 on AppleTV+, it’s a feel-good comedy set at a resort in Acapulco Mexico in the mid-1980s. It takes the form of a rich successful business man telling his nephew about his past. It’s larger than life and a refreshingly light show.

Earlier I disparaged Disney for the several series that I had watched.
It is easy to generically dismiss a big bucks company's productions. I would like to say that I have since watched a couple of Star Wars series in their subsidiary SW universe that were okay, with the potential of getting better.
The occasion of this post was however She Hulk Attorney-At-Law. Episode 8. I was quite amused that they chose to pit her against her obvious antagonist, attorney Matthew Murdock. For those benighted few not aware, he is the other Marvel attorney with his own alter-ego.
Well, in court he kicked her butt. Shortly thereafter she returned the favor physically.
After that they found a way to compromise their victories. (Yes, this is a euphemism.).
Anyway. In spite of a piece at the end that continued the theme of She-Hulk being attacked via her dual identities, I was quite amused that whoever is steering this series had the smarts to use a detail from the vast Marvel Universe to present an actual amusing story.

Family were very pleased to see that development, pogo. One of the few things they did like about She-Hulk.

Talking of which, there are rumours that, despite everyone thinking it would happen, Season 2 of She-Hulk may not. Tatiana Maslany Has No Idea Where She-Hulk Season 2 Will Go (screenrant.com)

Here, I've started watching Daredevil (again.) Another one I started and then lost interest, but now I'm powering through Season 1. The annoying sidekick is... less annoying, and the actor playing Kingpin is really good.

Just watched episodes 1-4 of House of the Dragon.

It's good...but different. In GoT, most of the major characters had CHARACTER. The Hand, Tyrion, the hound, Cersei...a long list of truly epic characters which from the word 'go' captured everyone's attention. House of the Dragon is on a much more 'human scale'. Which is not necessarily all bad - it lacks the massive punch GoT had - but in a sense is also more engaging because of the more life-sized protagonists. So will definitely continue, just not with the same urgency GoT inspired.
