Im interested in hearing more about Sara Douglas's work...apparently we Americans are being screwed. Can anyone tell me about her other books (plots etc)? I havent checked but do you suppose I could get them from AmazonUK?

How do you mean "screwed"? Do you not get her books or are they really expensive or what???

I'm a HUGE Sara Douglass fan as you may have gathered from previous posts and have all her books. Which ones did you want to know about.
I assume you know about the Axis Trilogy and the Wayfarer Redemption. Now she is 2 books into a new series The Crucible.
This story is set back in the 1300's and is about the ultimate war of good against evil which is being fought in Heaven but using one mortal man's soul as the final battleground. He must decide the fate of all in the face of temptation which could ruin everything. It may have been done before, but she puts a new slant on things because you just never know who are the real "angels" and who the "demons".

She also has some stand-alone novels - Threshold, which is set in ancient Egyptian-ish times, when the "pyramids" are being built as a monument to reach the ultimate mathematical concept of Infinity. This may sound like a strange concept for a fantasy novel, but the characters and plot are just rivetting (IMO).
Then there's Beyond the Hanging Wall. This one I read quite a while ago, so the details are a little sketchy. It involves a land where all healers are required to spend some time treating the convicts who have been sentenced to The Veins (an underground mine system). Here, the main character discovers a terrible secret that could change everyone's lives but also right a terrible wrong. This one is one of her earlier ones I think, and I don't find it as "gutsy" as her later efforts, but still an enjoyable read.

I wouldn't say that We Americans are getting screwed. I have seen varying opinions on Douglass' writing-some love it others are pallid.

That said, Tor is publishing the entire 6 book series of Battle Axe/Wayfarer saga so we will be able to read her.

i agree with e-morgana threshold is the best also everything other than that the last 2 books of the wayfarer redemption everything is preety good

What I meant about being screwed was that she sounds like an author I would be interested in but the only book of hers currently available to me is Wayfarer Redemption. I did check with AmazonUK and I could get any of the other ones through them if I wanted to pay the shipping charge.
FitzFlagg- When are the Tor editions due out? do you know?

I havent yet read Wayfarer Redemption....I dont buy "new" authors in hardback, when the paperback comes out I will read it. If I like it enough I will get the next ones in hardback.

I think TOR is publishing one per year, not sure though. www.tor.com has a listing of their publishing schedule for the next year and a half.
