What comics are you all reading? What do you think?

I've been plowing through Jeff Smith's Bone series this year. I've read the first four volumes, and I'm loving it. Great story. I love how Smith mixes humor into things so well. These are fantastic for readers of all ages.

I've been reading Low out of Image comics. Far future sci fi, pretty dark, but I like it so far. The artwork is gorgeous.

The next arc of Casanova - Acedia is out, also from Image. Scif-fi spy weirdness. Thumbs up from me. Only read 1st issue so far.

Hellboy 1952 at Dark Horse, pretty good so far. Art by Maleev less cartoony than Mignola and solid in classic ink work like Milt Caniff, Alex Toth, Tommy Lee Edwards, John Paul Leon vibe.

James Harren doing some great stuff withBPRD at Dark Horse and Rumble at Image. He's definitely in the creepy cartoony style of Mike Mignola and Guy Davis.

In terms of stuff I'm reading in single issues, or floppies as they say, I've really cut back. Down to just a handful of titles. Reading Saga, which is probably my favorite monthly (truthfully more like semi-monthly, they only do about 6 issues a year). Also reading Southern Bastards, and The Sixth Gun. The latter, I've been reading since it came out on Free Comic Book day a few years back, and has consistently been one of my favorite titles. It looks like the series will be wrapping up soon though. Looking forward to seeing this one through to the end.

I also snagged a new title a week or so back, Descender by Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen. I'm a big Lemire fan (when he is doing non DC stuff) and I'm hoping this will fill the void left by the end of his previous long-form series, Sweet Tooth.

For everything else, I'm trade-waiting. I just don't have the disposable income to dump into a bunch of monthly titles. Stuff I'm looking forward to reading in trade: Rat Queens, Lumberjanes, and a bunch of Image stuff that looks cool.

Saga and The Walking Dead as trade paperbacks.

Alex + Ada, ODY-C, and Nick Spencer's Ant-Man (Greatly missing his under appreciated Superior Foes of Spiderman)

Reading Saga, The Fade Out and about to start Wayward. Happy you say that Low is good, nposecznick, was thinking of starting that too. Also enjoying Complex from Alterna.

I recently read (and enjoyed a lot) the POV zombie-survival comic Daybreak by Brian Ralph. And my current favourite webcomic is still The Last Halloween - I just wish I'd never heard about it until it was finished, waiting for new pages is a torture that never ends...

On the lighter side I've been enjoying the new Batgirl and Gotham Academy. I sense some Disney as well as anime influences in the art of both pieces to varying degrees. The stories are just fun so far. It's nice to see female characters being treated as people instead of ogle-targets. I love the Batgirl design.

I read the first trade for Wayward yesterday and loved it. It has a bit of a nostalgic feel for me: a pinch of Ghostbusters, dash of Buffy and spoonful of Spirited Away. It's really good fun, an incredibly quick read, and I really liked the settings - the non-touristy Tokyo.

Am reading Wytches by Scott Snyder, which is interesting so far. And Chew Vol.1, which I am loving!

I have started on Sin City by Frank Miler, after finishing the five Blacksad albums published so far (three of them re-reads).
Miller is a great artist, his black and white panels exploding off the page in rage and his dialogues razor sharp. I don't much care for the over the top violence and the frequency of naked ladies, but the story is strong enough to make want to continue.

So I have a bunch of comics to catch up on - Darth Vader, Star Wars, the female Thor run and Secret Wars. I have not collected comics since I was a kid - this is fun.

Recently finished binge reading Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips' Fatale and really enjoy it. It starts out like a crime noir but has elements of horror including a vibe that's very Lovecraftian. There's a really intriguing femme fatale, an ominous cult, a good bit a disturbing gore and the ending was pretty satisfying. Plus the cover art is really cool.

Been trying to catch up on X-Men & Wolverine comics, mostly, but Saga & Low both look intriguing (thanks for the link, @nposecznick), & I've been meaning to read Lone Wolf & Cub for some time . . .

Anyone else checked out Squarriors by Ashley Witter and Ash Maczko? It has a similar vibe to Redwall and Watership Down. The artwork is gorgeous although it gets a bit gory at times. The battle scenes in issue #2 were pretty epic.

Justice League with the artist Jason Fabok.

He draws and inks his own work and I really dig every page of his art.
