What comics are you all reading? What do you think?

That is strange, I really like his art even if he is a bit arrogant about how good he is. Can I talk you into a review of one of them? :D

I caught a preview copy of a new Oni title Wasteland yesterday and it looks pretty good, it's by some of the people who did Queen and Country although I'm not sure if I like a black and white colour scheme in comics. The first issue is a 48 page bumper start so I may pick that up and see what happens.

Also been catching up on Y The Last Man and it's getting a little bit so-so to me, some of the recent events have been a touch on the ludicrous side and it's not as exciting as it was originally.
I read Identity Crisis on the weekend, bit slow to catch up I know, and it was a bit weak tbh. The eventual killer that triggers all these events was a damp squib and has strengthened my belief major events suck. Still onward to Infinite Crisis, not holding my breath.

Yeah, IC was pretty insulting on many levels. Infinite Crisis is fun though it is a bit stupid in many ways. I'll just say this "Beware of Superboy Prime's retcon PUNCH!. You'll get it, when you read the mini-series.

Rags's art is nice, but Meltzer really dropped the ball on this series. It sold boatloads and I assume that's why DC is lettling Meltzer relaunch JLA. Blech. Give it back to Morrison or even Geoff Johns.

Still liking this quite a bit. Last issue hits stands next week!

Any idea what the line-up will be or will that give away too much of the end to Infinite Crisis?

Is that issue 7 or 8? I'm only caught up to 5 but it seems like there can't be much left.

7 issues and alot of Aftermath series like Battle for Bludhaven.

I think it will be the Big 7, there will be a zero issue in about a month. Meltzer pissed me off too much with Identity Crisis, and I just can't afford to add another book.

A LOT of aftermath stuff

...One Year Later...
...52....
...Secret Six....
...Shadowpact...
...Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters...

I think that is only the TIP of the iceberg, but a lot of it looks interesting.

Where are you up to with that?
I recently finished the Safeword trade, and found it to be stalling a bit - the whole trek across America thing doesn't really work for me, and there hasn't been enough info on the tragedy to justify the story getting bogged down there - I want some exposition dammit!

I've just read issue 43, so I'm at least three trades ahead. It's getting a bit repetitive tbh and I'm starting to dislike Yorick quite a lot. The storyline has moved on with some daft events and a disappointing lack of variety beyond the 'Yorick gets in trouble - 355 bales him out' theme. I'm thinking of stopping reading it in favour of giving somehting else a chance.

Sleeper Vol 2: All False Moves - Decent read, but it didn't quite capture my attention in the same way as the 1st one. Just seemed to be 'more of the same' to me.

Queen and Country Declassified vol 1 - I've enjoyed a number of the Queen and Country trades over the years (even if they don't have deep multilayered plots, they do raise some interesting points about the espionage game). Welcome return to the form of the 1st 2 trades.

Punisher Hardcover (collects vol 4 of the series - ie the Welcome Back Frank trade) - impulse buy, but not a bad candyflossy read.

Grendel - God and the Devil - The Grendel storyline's difficult to get into as there's so much backstory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grendel_(comics)). This particular storyline didn't quite appeal to me though.

Need to catch up on Lucifer, Fables and Gotham Central at some point.

I just bought the Tron comic. Short, but interesting for those who liked the Tron 2.0 video game. Very good artwork.

Interesting, I spotted the TRON comic and pondered getting it, as I'm something of a fan of both the movie and the game (both hugely flawed in their own ways, but also quite remarkable in others). It is a limited series, or an ongoing thing?

Recently I've bought Batman:Year One, which for some reason I've never read, as well as volume 3 of Gotham Central. Looking forward to reading both.

Took a look at the first issue of the new 'Civil War' marvel comic event yesterday. I enjoyed it, no doubt, but I can't help but feel that this area has already been done before elsewhere (and probably a little better): 'Rising Stars', 'Watchmen' etc.

I think it's going to be an every other month release, and will be limited. Of course, that could change depending on sales.

Just read #1 52. Not bad, but not great either. Though it is a set-up issue(as most first issues tend to be), it was a bit of a mess though I am interested in the Montoya/The Question pairing and what is up with Ralph Digby/The Elongated Man.

Just pickd up before Batman Secrets 3 of 5.

And Legends No 34.

Not had a chance to read the latter, probably will later on. As to Secrets well the frist two were very good, namely becasue of the derranged Joker popping up on every page, to doing something wacky and manical. Though he's a bit subdued in this part, ah well, its still a worthy read, though the first two were better, the art is impressive, its all jagged and imperfect looking, tis good.

The third Gotham Central trade, more action packed and chunkier than the first two but I don't like the way they just skipped the whole aftermath of Montoya being 'outed'.

Rising Stars Volume 1 - a revisit for me, can't get enough of RS, if anything I think it's superior to Supreme Power.

Wolverine: Origins and Endings. I own Origin and I own The End so it seemed to make sense to get this too, turns out to be almost as much a waste of time as the other two. I don't get why they have to do trades that are 'to be continued' surely that's the point of a trade in the first place, to encompass the whole story arc unless it's 20+ issues long or spread across multiple titles. Plus wtf are they doing to Logan, or should that be James, storyline, terrible decision by the Marvel powerbrokers.

Currently my monthly reads are:

The Goon.
Battle Pope.
Invincible.
Walking Dead.
Astonishing X-Men.
Powers.

Ultimate Fantastic Four.
GI Joe America's Elite.

[looks at avatar] I would never have guessed you were a Kirkman fan. ;)

I'm kind of enjoying the Planet Hulk storyline right now. Reminiscent of Gladiator in some ways.

I'm giving the new Moon Knight series a try, I really enjoyed series writer Charlie Huston's Already Dead.

In trades I'm still keeping up with Y and Hellboy and I've got to start up with The Walking Dead.

I'm stoked for Planet Hulk...although I decided it best to wait for the trade. I just hope that they make one. I'm kind of assuming a story as big as this will eventually be collected in a HC or trade at the very least.

Until then I'll just read(browse) the issues as they come out in the store. :p

And ya, I'm a Kirkman fanboy. ;)

My favorite comics are the Phantom (not Phantom published by moonstone because I haven't read any) and Mandrake by Lee Falk, Modesty Blaise and ElfQuest.
I also read Asterix, Donald Duck, Tintin, Flash Gordon.

Alot of the comics I saw mentioned in this thread are comics I've wanted to read, but never gotten around to because they weren't sold where I grew up.
