What games are you playing?

Very, very late, I have finally got hold of two games I've been meaning to get for ages - Spiderman 2 and GTA: Liberty City Stories. Playing them over the last week or so has been an interesting experience; they are so similar (a big city to roam around in, one based upon NYC and one actually being NYC), but so different (one heroic and virtuous, one...not so much). It depends what mood I'm in when I get home, as to which one gets played first - do I want to thwart armed robbers and save people from falling off skyscrapers, or do I want to set fire to gangsters and take their money? The two games are a perfect balance to each other, so a session on one followed by a quick blast on the other leaves me with a serene cyber-karmic equilibrium.

Spiderman 2 has to be the best superhero game ever.

Im playing dynasty warriors 5 empires. It is very good because unlike 4 empires where you can only have 10 officers on 5 it depends how much area you have to how many officers you can have (max 150) when you capture an area and you dont want the officer you captured or you dont have enough money to buy him, instead of releasing him you can excecute them so the no longer pose as a threat.

Only downside ive come across is xiao Qao's best weapon is heavy which makes her useless. The only reason she was good was because she was fast. even with speed scrol lvl 20 she is slow.Ahh well i still have the legendary Lu Bu and up to 10 created charaters.

I just finished playing Star Wars: Republic Commando. At first I didn't think it would be that good but from the first scene onwards I began to enjoy it. I really enjoyed the action, the comradeship between the squad and the humour (Though some lines were repeated a few times). The fight on the Prosecutor was my favourite mission overall. :) I'm thinking of getting the novels as well, just as an easy read.

Oblivion (a title I think refers to the place where my chores ended up) for the XBox and Morrowind for the PC. If you like killing elves you'll love these!

:D

I haven't been playing Oblivion much lately, as I just got a new laptop and Mrs. Bangs and I have been playing D2 on battle.net together

I've been playing World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade and online chess at www.redhotpawn.com lately.

TBC is great fun, there are a lot of new things to see and do. Should keep me entertained for at least a few months before quiting WoW again until the next expansion comes along.

I suppose I haven't posted here in a while...

I'm *still* playing NWN. That game just doesn't grow old and the online community is as vibrant as ever. Part of what keeps it going is that Obsidian laid a *BIG* egg with Neverwinter Nights 2...

... which is the 2nd game I'm playing. The solo campaign is solid, but the online play is so incredibly buggy it's not even funny. Features included out of the box in NWN1 are missing in NWN2. All in all, the multiplayer feels tacked-on and rushed.

And, of course, the king of all time-wasters: Civilization 4.

What's this? Obsidian completely cocking up a sequel to a much-loved and critically acclaimed Bioware game? Shurely not!

After they created the travesty that is Knights of the Old Republic 2, I lost any faith in Obsidian doing much worthwhile with NWN2. They seem incapable of even finishing games on time to a good standard, let alone creating good quality content.

Most annoying. I'd rather have no sequel than a bad one.

Civ 4 is filling my time quite adequately until next week. Exactly seven days to go before I finally get to play Final Fantasy 12. I haven't been this excited about a game since...Final Fantasy 10:D

Playing Medieval 2 Total War.
Hugely addictive as usual. Basically Medieval with the Rome engine and some tweaks.
You can choose to Build Cities of Fortresses. One specialises in combat units the other (whilst churning out some good militia units) tends to specialise more on trade and infrastructure.
If you're a fan of the Total War series this is a must have, but remember to kiss your family and friends goodbye, because they won't be seeing much of you for a few months after. :D

I was prepared to forgive KotoR 2 as a one-off, being rushed by Atari etc. But do to it TWICE is unforgiveable. Not only was NWN2 supremely buggy out of the box, it requires a monster rig to play properly, has an inane online setup which has the community tearing their hair out, and is still being patched into some semblance of what it should have been on day 1.

I've been playin LEGO STAR WARS II. This game is just pure fun.

Crackdown! Anyone with a 360 who likes shooting should buy this - it's like next-gen Spiderman only with guns. Build up your super-cop's abilities and watch him jump from roof to roof, across roads, up mountains - it's brilliant.

Been a while since I descended into this den of depravity... ;)

I'm playing Rome: Total War and have been for months now. At one point I became so addicted to it that the real world practically lost all meaning. This game has to be one of the finest turn-based strategy games ever made. Aside from the fatal crashes that can occur and the fact that the diplomacy aspect needs a tweak or two, it's a damn fine game. A classic just-one-more-go game. I can sit down a play it for hours at a time without even realising. I got Barbarian Invasion, one of the expansions, but am still nowhere near to starting it...

James you should check out some of the mods for Rome.
I'm playing Rome Total Realism at the moment.

Basically a bunch of self professed history buffs decided the game wasn't as historically accurate as they would have liked and knocked up a huge mod.

It's pretty decent as they've expanded the map further east and included 200 new units through a distinctive AOR or "area of recruitment" system which means that some units that are unique to certain geographical areas (such as Greek hoplites, Numidian cavalry, etc) can be trained at your cities instead of just bought as mercs.

The Seleucids and Carthaginians start off in a much more powerful position and some of the non playable factions (Macedon, Spain, Numidia) have been heavily revamped and made playable.

I've just started playing Vanguard Saga of Heroes and I have to say it's not half bad. The diplomacy, crafting and combat are very nicely done and fun to play. There are definately bugs but not as many as I'd heard which is a relief. It does take a powerhouse PC to get the most out of the graphics though but they can be stunning if you have the hardware.
