What games are you playing?

Shame. I've been thinking about it a bit more and the makers deserve credit because after the first level I didn't even think about the POV, the interaction from that area of the game was fantastic.

Been playing Hard Rain this evening (well after a quick run on the God of War III demo - great fun) and I am finding it quite involving.

The voice acting does let the game down a little bit, which is a shame when games that don't rely that much on the voice acting - games like Uncharted 2 - have a great voice cast, but a game which is essentially an interactive movie really should have gone out of the way to get decent voice actors or a decent voice director.

However, the intuitive control system is interesting to use and the story immersive. I suppose it is really just the next level of point and click style gaming.

Very interesting to play and I had to work hard to put it down which is why I am still up at 3 in the morning!

Sounds good Wulfa! I don't have a PS3 so I can't play it, but it looks nicely different (a bit like Hotel Dusk did on the DS, at least I think that was its name).

I spent last night playing Mass Effect 2 for the first time in nearly a month. Ah, Renegade FemShep...

Playing Sacred 2 on 360. Having fun playing the different characters. Plus, I got burnt out of Fallout 3. Wow, that game is long :)

I know what you mean, John! With games like ME2, Dragon Age, Fallout 3 etc, it's very easy to get burnt out on them.

...And NOT get your writing done!

I haven't bought Dragon Age for that very reason (yet). Temptation will suck me in and and my writing will go to pot for the following 2-3 weeks. :)

It is a good call on the Hotel Dusk comparison; I still rate that as one of my favourite games.

It’s less of a puzzle game though, although there are still some puzzle elements.
It really is essentially an interactive movie; you make decisions and choose dialogue that shapes the story. When playing the private detective do you do go back and help the hooker from her abusive customer? As the FBI agent do you stop the police detective from beating up a potential witness?

The game play elements come of the quick time events – chasing after a suspect in a crowded market place and pressing the corresponding buttons to avoid obstacles or take alternative paths. Miss too many and the suspect escapes – however the game doesn’t end, it continues with a changed path. Fight scenes are also played using the same quick time button pressing.

Spent the last three hours playing Halo 3: ODST and liking it a lot. It's less chaotic and more tactical than Halo 3, there are some neat little level targets, plenty of duck-and-cover (my favoured form of FPS) because you aren't a super-powered Master Chief and some excellent voice acting (half the Firefly cast seems to be 'in' it). On the flipside, it's still rather easy for the most part, the scenery and setting is repetitive and uninspiring plus it all feels a little too familiar.

Finishing up Mass Effect 2 lots of fun. A lot of new improvements which make the game play a little more fluid. The surveying of planets for materials is a bit mundane and hopefully works a little easier when Mass Effect 3 comes out.

I will be moving on to finishing Darksiders and starting Dante's Inferno but before I do I plan on playing the Orange Box again only this time on the PS3. I blame the Machinima episodes of Freeman's Mind for my renewed interest in the game. If you haven't seen any of the episodes of Freeman's Mind you need to they are darn funny. First episode is here.

I've been spending a lot of good, juicy, old-school time with Mega Man 9. I can spend hours on this sort of thing...definitely the kind of game I was raised on...maybe that dates me a bit. Great fun to be had here if you have the patience for the type of game that's totally unforgiving unless you're willing to die again and again in learning the levels.

I just finished FF4 and am biding my time with Scribblenauts till the next final fantasy releases next week.

Just started The Orange Box again only this time on the PS3. I just love this game no idea why they don't make more episodes sooner.

Yeah, it's Valve.
They really dropped the ball with "Episodic Content", and then incurred fan wrath when they announced Left 4 Dead 2, which I'm ordering in the next week! The Portal updates are brilliant though, they're strongly hinting at a sequel.

Have you had a chance to watch all of the Freeman's Mind videos? I watched them last week which is why I have a renewed interest in the game.

Completed Halo 3 ODST last night and although the end sequence lacked impact (partly because we already know what happens) most of the final missions were really enjoyable. I found it way too easy given that it was pitched as 'how-hard-the-covenant-are-if-you-aren't-Master-Chief' but I've played a lot of Halo including Legendary so I'm not going to say it's a negative until I try heroic and legendary for this. Much better than Halo 3 imo and makes me hopeful for Reach (even if we know how that ends too :D)

Not playing anything at this minute but I've ordered/am ordering:
Sacred Gold (downloading as I speak)
Sacred 2 Collector's Edition (£6 new!)
Earthworm Jim 1 + 2
Left 4 Dead 2
and possibly The Settlers 6.

Just finished Heavy Rain and wow. It is certainly the most emotionally involving games I’ve ever played. I’m not saying it is a game changer, but I’d not be surprised if we didn’t see a new sub genre appear and I’d be quite happy to play this type of game again. It is as close to an interactive movie I’ve ever played.

The twist is quite surprising and quite sad as not only do you become attached to the character who is the killer, it is the effect the revelation has on another character.

From what I’ve heard, I didn’t get the prefect ending, but the one I got, I am happy with. I’d like to play it from the start again and see how different decisions and actions change the how the story plays out.

Really one of the most impressive games I’ve played. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who has a PS3.

Pondering if I should get the new FF game next week... been getting some very strong reviews and looks visually stunning. However, I try not to have too many games stacked up and I've still got Dragon Age to complete. Then God of War 3 comes out at the end of the month... I think there is a bit of a dry patch after that though... not much out.

Like Indigo Prophecy? I really liked that game.

EDIT: Haha. I actually looked up Heavy Rain and saw it was made by the same people as Indigo Prophecy. Guess that answered my question.
