What games are you playing?

*Shrugs* Games screw up sometimes. I would have just uninstalled and reinstalled it rather than going to such an extreme, though. I had problems getting The Witcher to stick to Polish, but I changed 'edition' (I had the Steam version, so I bought the retail one) and it worked fine. No more language changing for me!

Anno 1404 does sometimes go German on me, but that's because (I reckon) something went a little wrong on their part. Luckily it only happened for a secondary 'task' rather than anything major.

Talking of Germany, I've recently acquired a new German release, named The First Templar.

I'm having a few stuttering problems with it due to my PC, but so far it's not unpleasant. Actually, for a German game released by Kalypso, it seems pretty good quality. It's not excessively buggy, it's not crashing frequently and it's performing at a just-acceptable standard (When I get my upgrades, however, it should run much smoother). The combat is reminiscent of Batman: Arkham Asylum, the RPG system is quite basic but gameplay is a bit like Lego Star Wars crossed with Batman. It sounds a bit odd, of course, but it works really well so far. I'm also, rather unusually, playing it with my 360 controller, but as it's a Games for Windows release the switch between keyboard/mouse and gamepad is absolutely seamless and I'd even argue that a game like this is likely better on a controller. I was very impressed when one character warned the other not to draw weaponry in an abbey, because the game doesn't let you do so when you're there. Sometimes games tell you not to, yet never temporarily remove that functionality. Excellent minor detailing by Haemimont there.

The only problems I've had so far, really, are that you don't get enough time to counter attack dogs (You either stab them or they end up on top of you before you can counter them) and that the control prompts often come up with relation to the keyboard and not the controller, which can be a little confusing.

While the PSN was down I went back to the brilliant Just Cause (the game GTA should have been and hammered it. It's like grinding in WOW or GW but fun.

Managed to pick up Brink, Lego Pirates, Little Big 2, Crysis 2 and GTA Episodes. They're all still on the shelf, in their wrappers unopen cos I can't stop playing Tiger Bloody Woods.

Killzone 3.

Really liked Killzone 2 so getting this was a no brainer. Unfortunately I'm rocketing through it much quicker than I'd like. Part way through chapter 7 of 9 after only three sittings. Great fun but I only wish it was twice as long.

I finally finished Bulletstorm today thanks to a trip to get some new components. What little I had left to do wasn't that spectacular, if I'm honest. They introduced a new enemy type for literally about 10-20 minutes of gameplay. Bit of a waste, in my opinion. Overall it was a good game, albeit one with a number of flaws, but I don't think it could ever live up to the hype generated for it.

Not sure what I'll be playing next. Depends what I feel like trying with my new upgrades.

Bayonetta. Awesome game. Campy fun.

I saw Portal 2 and it looked great.

I am currently playing LA Noire, and if you aren't, you really should be.

I've also got Brink, Battlefield 2, Lego Pirates, Crysis 2, GTA Episodes and Dirt 3 which are all unopened because I can't stop Noire or Tiger Woods 12 at the moment!

The talk about an ASoIaF video game for consoles has me considering the XBox360. It will, coincidentally, provide me with the perfect excuse/circumstances to go out and purchase Batman: Arkham Asylum. Shhh, not too loud now - Mrs. PW has some sick hearing.

Or just get both for the PC? ;)

Or just get both for the PC? ;)

Ok, here's a snag I've been up against for years. I've never been able to enjoy PC gaming. I can never seem to be as intuitively dextrous with a keyboard as I can on a console controller. Granted my experience with video games began well before computers were in common every day use (i.e. lingering about a pair of arcades in Burlington, VT during the early 1980's).

The silly thing is I want to be able to enjoy PC gaming, but also be capable at it. I've given it a try once or twice SW:DF and SW:KOTOR, but end up flailing, dying, cursing and screaming. I wish I could pull off PC gaming.

ETA: Try to type Star Wars: Dark Forces and get a frickin' emoticon...seriously?

You need to put a space between the colon and letter ;)

The great thing about PC gaming is you can generally use a controller if you wish. I got one just for GTA IV and Batman: Arkham Asylum (Games for Windows games have to be compatible with the controller, although it's not always the best control method), or there's generally solutions out there to allow you to use a controller for those few that don't support it.

KotOR is a bit of a pain to get into (It's also on the Xbox, just pointing it out), but you can get through it just through sheer luck.

I have been playing thru the dragon age series and i am thru my second play thru dragon age 2

My copy of Drakensang: The River of Time arrived today, and so far it's done nothing but blow me away. It looks beautiful, sounds beautiful (If one ignores the slightly shoddy voice acting) and plays really well so far.

Decided to pick up Heavy Rain again. Started back from the beginning since I couldn't remember what happened leading up to where I stopped playing. Man, this game is depressing. And stressful. Whenever I play Ethan I get stressed out.

New to the site, thought this was a good place for my first post.

For PC, I'm switching between:
WoW, Dragon Age 1, Fallout 3, Out of the Park Baseball X, Assassin's Creed 2, and am on the fence for DC Universe Online.

Wii - Tiger Woods Golf and Netflix

iPhone/iPad OS - NY Times Crosswords, Final Fantasy I, II, and III, Assassin's Creed: Altair Chronicles.

Still looking for a good RPG on the iPhone that's somewhat original.

I am waiting for my LA Noire to get here but in the meantime I am dividing my time between Tiger Woods 12, Thor, and Brink. All of them a decent way to waste time.

and Brink.
I'll be honest Durzo; Your comment is the first time I've really heard anything positive about Brink. It's not got a sale from me simply because they sidelined female characters (I'm strange, I know), but I've not heard a lot of good things about it. General consensus seems to be that for PC gamers at least, Team Fortress 2 does everything Brink does, but better. And with hats. Yahtzee did his review/critique of it yesterday, and it was pretty scathing.

I'm getting further into Drakensang: The River of Time, and I'm absolutely loving it. It's beautiful, it plays well, it's much easier to get into than the previous game both in terms of the actual structure of the game and how much it guides you, and it's just a great game so far.

I should be getting my copy of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Retribution tonight, so that'll likely be played this weekend.

Finished my first playthrough The Witcher 2 a couple days ago and it was amazing, easily the best game of the year so far, by a huge margin. Here's hoping Dark Souls takes after TW2, and doesn't end up a disaster like Dragon Age 2.
