What guarantees you read a book..

I'm wondering if there are any other wonderfully helpful articles about writing fiction/fantasy like Farland's out there somewhere. I've checked other authors websites and come up empty. If anyone knows of any, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Some sort of original plot. LE Modesitt's Spellsong Cycle. the use of song as the method for casting spells is very novel (pardon the pun).

If a book comes out with name Fiest, Martain or Duglass then I will in most cases drop whatever book Im reading to and read them instead.

A few people here have put me onto some great authors and If they recommend others then I will always try them.
