I saw seaquest DSV on a speculative fiction channel back in 2004 and liked some aspects of it such as ray guns and surface battles and adventures...but when I tried watching it online about a year ago, I didn't really like it. I found it too boring.

Can anyone recommend which seasons I should watch? I can't seem to want to drag myself through the entire thing. Thank you for your recommendations.

Difficult one that. I thought Season One was better, but a tad slow in places and often 'rather worthy'.

Season Two was a revamp and definitely less science and more rayguns & aliens. Sounds like Season Two may be your route in.

(Season Three was so good I can't remember any of it. Might not even have seen it....)

Thank you Hobbit. Yes season two sounds more like my kind of thing. Thank you for recommending me that.
The captain in the series looks familiar. Turns out he was in Jaws, although his personality is totally different.

Hope it's as good as you remember it, Cornelius. Yes, the actor is Roy Scheider, who was in Jaws.

If I remember right, the original brief was that it was meant to be an SF series that educated us about the ocean depths at the same time. Rather like an updated version of 1960's classic, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

Ratings dropped fast - and like Voyage became a programme that rejoiced in a 'monster of the week' format - less science, a major recasting and more entertainment. I have heard it said it was like the change from Season 1 - 2 of Space:1999 or Season 1 -2 of the original Star Trek.

It's been nearly 20 years, but I remember it as 'fun'. But my memory may be suspect!

Thanks Hobbit!
Well it looks like this Roy Scheider is an aquatic type of guy to be in films and shows about marine adventures. Yes I remember Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. In fact I watched some of it on YouTube last year, but it does not have the same quality as Star Trek or SeaQuest. But you're right it's one of the few shows that focuses on the sea rather than space.
