Work as a writer for RPG games

Well, Ihave a question about writing for RPG games, I would like to know if there are any big game development companies in Sidney, Australia. I would also be very happy to know which the biggest gamedevelopment companys in the world are and which of them are developing RPG games?

The two I know is Wizards of the Coast and Steve Jackson Games - but they're both American companies. Both have writer's guidelines for submissions.

Definitely read the FAQ's.

Something that might help you will be doing the sort of writing you're interested in - if you want to write novels for the game makers, you should be submitting short stories to magazines. If you want to write rule books, you should be submitting articles to gaming magazines. It's a foot in the door kinda thing.

Why not develop your own RPG?

Examine the market and find a niche that hasn't been filled or one that you could do a much better job at. Develop a concept and do a little market research.

Then go into outright development - create a world, write a background, get in touch with some artists and put together a manual manuscript.

You could then either contact a mainstream publisher, or publish the game at some place like lulu.com or Equilibrium books (which I believe is down under).

Who knows - you could be the next big RPG developer and in a few years people will be asking you for jobs.
