What games are you playing?

Not so much playing as watching, some of the videos coming out of E3 have been stunning and that MW3 Hunter Killer video is insane. I'm going to be skint come chrimbo :D

Far Cry 3 looked pretty good. Have you seen Mr Caffeine yet? He was one of the presenters for Ubisoft and was rather funny, but not in the way he wishes.

Goldeneye 007 (N64), Secret of Evermore (SNES), and Shadowrun (Genesis). I play mostly on older consoles, not because of elitism, but because of poverty.
Yeah, me too. I haven't bought a new console since I got that N64 for Christmas all those years ago.

It came with Goldeneye and I still love it. :D

Here's how I tend to operate: Tonight I finished Okami for the Wii. I purchased the game on its release date - April 15, 2008. It has taken me 3 years, 2 months, and a day to finish it (I think I started it twice in that time, maybe three times). I guess it's time for me to find some other years-old game in a closet somewhere to play through. I have a number of DS RPGs still in their shrink wrap, a few PS2 things that still need playing. I'll have to see what fancy captures me for the next few years.

Finished LA Noire - not sure if there are alternate endings but the end scenes I got really surprised me, it's in the title for sure but wasn't expecting that. Ultimately I think the game was a success, technically it opens the door for a very interesting type of game and creates the potential for greater variety in games. But it is repetitive, frustrating, at times just plain boring and I'm not convinced by the replay value. Final verdict is a 6.5/10

Next: Marvel vs Capcom 3, love me some 2D beat-em-ups :)

While I am waiting on a few games to come in the mail (LA Noire, Infamous 2, and Duke Nukem) I am finally sitting down and playing Assassins Creed Brotherhood. I am enjoying most of my time sending my assassins on missions more than I am the actual game play. The missions are not that difficult so when I go out and do something I lose interest.

I finally finished another game. I just got to the end of The First Templar (Developer: Haemimont Games; Publisher: Kalypso Media), and it was pretty good, but far from perfect.

The controls were a bit of a pain, the graphics were fair but not great (It's a lower budget European release, so it's understandable and acceptable), the voice acting was typical for a game of its type (i.e. Nothing to write home about, except for the hilarious French accents)... I didn't see the point of going for its multiplayer, though. I think it's one of those games where multiplayer is justified (It's a co-op action RPG, after all), but it doesn't interest me. I got it for the single player, and the single player alone.

And, surprisingly, there wasn't a romance plotline! I'm actually surprised about that.

I am playing Lego Batman, I am not a fan.
I don't think all that much of the Lego games. They all use the same mechanics and the same gameplay between them, regardless of setting, plus they're damn infuriating :(

Indeed, plus you have to play the whole game through just to get all the abilities to open up certain areas in every level, even the very first. Not really an enticement tbh
I have Enchanted and like Durzo AC: Brotherhood next in the pile.

I Just got a subscription to gamefly. The first game I received was Resistance Fall of Man. I put it in my que since the previews for Resistance 3 look pretty good. The premise of the game are Aliens have taken over Russia and are moving east. The aliens are not only conquering but they are converting the people too. You help take them on in England in 1950. Not a bad game. However, the graphics are a bit dated.

Has anyone else used gamefly? I was curious as to what they thought of it. Is it tough to get the popular games? As I stated in the earlier post I received one game so far, but it was like ranked around the 12th game in my que. Is that kind of standard?

I've hit the summer doldrums with work, so I'm gaming a little more than usual. I think I'm becoming a Monster Hunter fan. It's very Japanese, pretty difficult, and time consuming. But for fantasy fans, it seems on the mark. Go out and kill really nasty big things...I've only spent about 15 hours so far, but it's very engrossing (not sure I'll get like others and spend hundreds or thousands of hours with it, as I usually don't play that much).

I think it depends on where you are. I just moved to the Pacific Northwest and they just opened a Seattle distribution center. Sometimes it can take a day or two for them to select your game and then a day or two to get to you through the mail, so sometimes almost a week between games.

But, I think it's been worth it. I've been pretty happy with it so far. I can't count how many times I've been thankful I didn't waste 60 bucks on one game or another.

Costwise, I think it's very good, cuz at 15 bucks a month, I'd have to keep a game for over 4 months to lose money in any way. At 15 bucks a month, I've saved tons of money and played all kinds of games.

Well worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply.

I agree with it costing just $15 a month that it definitely seems worth it. Do you actually get games when they initially come out and I assume in a higher demand or is there normally a long wait?

I had terrible experiences with Gamefly. I tried using them twice, did not get new releases and had a 3-4 day wait to receive a game, and another 3-4 day wait for them to receive a game I sent back. At least here in the US, there are so many great deals to take advantage of for new release titles, that there is no need for me to try to roll the dice with a Gamefly type service.

I think recently they might've expanded a little quicker than they intended as I've seen a few slightly longer wait times recently. My last game was two days before it got sent out and that's the longest yet.

I guess it's a hit or miss proposition depending on your geographic area and personal tastes. But it's definitely worth it for me. I'm kinda picky about games and I've sent back a lot that I thought I'd like (based on reviews, genre etc) so I saved a lot of money.

Also, I'm more prone to take a chance on a game now also since there's lower risk. So, that's been fun, trying out and enjoying different games that I might not have bothered with if I had to pay 60 bucks to do it.

I came home to find Fable III and Hunted: The Demon's Forge - Special Edition on the doormat today. Fable 3 has blue-screened twice, and Hunted looks a bit ugly, but plays OK.

They'll keep me going for a short while.

Picked up NCAA 12. I'm a pretty big college football fan and seeing Osceola plant the spear is pretty awesome as a Seminole fan.
