What games are you playing?

No one playing Batman yet? I have to say it is pretty great. The beginning alone has sold it for me. If you are a fan of the first one then I think you will be happy.

Btw, while I enjoyed Rage the ending was kind of abrupt and weak. I expected something a little bigger.

I'm a PC gamer, so no. Up yours, Rocksteady and WB. Up yours.

I finished Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 today. It was pretty good, if rather flawed. I enjoyed it enough to finish it though.

I has to restart Fable 3 this week (Thank you, Microsoft, for not putting my saves in a sensible place) and I'm kind of enjoying it, but I'm getting a bit fed up. I'm at a point where I need to earn 6.5m gold. Uuugh.

My Collectors Edition came in the post today, haven't got round to starting it yet but very much looking forward to this. Great couple of months just started for gamers :)

And I'm only getting two games from these next months ;) Anno 2070 and Skyrim. Hours upon hours of play there, if not days.

So far: Gears of War 3 and Batman: Arkham City
To come: Battlefield 3, Saints Row 3, MW3, Assassins Creed: Revelations

:) :D

So Battlefield3 is out today, Uncharted3 next Tues and then Skyrim on the 11th. Just too many games right now.

Still loving Batman.

I'm finding the more open gameplay of Arkham City less effective than Asylum, normally I love the sandbox style but this doesn't seem to be meshing as well as I hoped. It's also a bit too easy and simple.

Started and finished CoD: Black Ops since last Saturday. Disappointingly short. Entertaining but hardly the revelation I was expecting from the way people talk about CoD. I didn't think it was any better than Resistance 2 or Killzone 3.

Now Uncharted 3 is out I might get a used and abused copy of Uncharted 2 but I'm really waiting for the new Tomb Raider next year.

hey :)
great to see so many gamers here!
do we have any other girl gamers?

right now, i'm finishing the last dlc on fallout new vegas, i've finished the game itself, with all 4 endings, and on hardcore :D
yes... i did play it to death lol

but not as much as i played fallout 3 lol, thats my all time fave game, i spent 11 months playing just that (all dlc included) and no other game.

i'm also in the middle of dragon age 2 (stopped playing to do F:NV dlc)
i have dlc to complete on dragon age 1 & oblivion.

looking forward to getting rage at xmas :D

i used to play sims 2 and diablo 2 on my pc, but both became uncompatable when i got a new pc, and with work/life, i didn't have time to find a fix.

i did, however, get them both working on my nu laptop :D i'd forgot how much fun they both are!

i've not even heard of the settlers, is it a 'sim' style game, where you build a town, populate, keep everything/everyone running smoothly??

It's an economic strategy game. You go from nothing to creating a settlement, and how you build your economy can mean the difference between winning with flying colours, barely winning or being rather humiliated. It's less about micromanagement and more about building up a successful empire of sorts.

It ain't easy.

Well, after seeing the first 30 minutes of Skyrim, I'm more or less done with the series. I can handle the outdated graphics and the horrible voice acting, but the fact that they still haven't fixed the aimless swinging for combat...that's just too much.

Why don't you wait until it's out before judging it? And really, the "outdated graphics" point is so overdone these days. The reason graphics are "outdated" is because the console manufacturers are not putting out any new hardware any time soon, so as techniques and resources improve (PCs now are massively more powerful than they were when the PS3/360 launched), the consoles don't. From what I've seen, Skyrim looks good.

Maybe it's just my love of European games, but I don't see how "horrible voice acting" (You may want to try playing some European releases before you complain about the voice acting in Bethesda games) or "outdated graphics" will stop Skyrim from likely being one of the best RPGs of the past year or two at least.

As for the "aimless swinging", you don't get a crosshair in real life when you swing a weapon, so why should you in a game?

"Aimless" might have been the wrong word to use. My problem is that the combat is way too simple and you more or less blindly strike at the enemies and hope for the best. It was bad in 2006 and it looks like they've made no progress at all.

Anyway, I really don't want to argue about the TeS games here, I've done too much of it already elsewhere. I just can't seem to find a single aspect of them that I enjoy, which is all the more frustrating because they're supposed to be perfect for me, in theory. :(
