What games are you playing?

I am back Playing Elder Scrolls Online in a big way the changes in this game since it was launched about 2 years ago are great...

for me the addition of an (account wide linked) almost bottomless crafting materials bag is the best it removes most of the pressure on bag space while you play so no more management of materials ( I had 6 toons I created just to be bank alts and I am having a blast now using them as functional characters as I level different spec and alliance toons... if you looked at this game and then gave it up you really need to look at it again.

I'm helping as a builder on a Minecraft server putting together Skyblock, prison, and creative. I also play the mod packs Attack of the B-Team, Revenge of the C-Team, and Skyblock Infinity in expert mode.

Tried playing Ark but my graphics card couldn't keep up.

I happened to need a phone while Sammy was running a free GearVR with Galaxy device promotion, so I've got a GearVr now! It is freaking cool, like significantly cooler than I expected.

The only other headset I've tried was the Occulus DK2 at an architecture trade show, but the demo they had running wasn't very good so my expectations were pretty low. Obviously with GearVR there are limitations.... it's powered by Occulus software and drivers, but obviously mobile hardware is going to be a limiting factor for gaming.

But the stuff I've played with so far has at least convinced me that VR isn't the next 3dtv. There are so many interesting ways it can be used even on low level hardware that I think it's here to stay.

Yeah, I'd have got a Gear VR if my phone was new enough to use it. John Carmack (Mr Doom) is doing a lot of work on mobile VR for Oculus, so it's sure to progress rapidly.

Tried playing Dreadhalls on a Rift CV1 last night, but got scared and bailed out :).

PC:
QuakeLive (Been playing a version of Quake since 1999. Q3, Q4, now QL)
Heroes of the Storm (Blizzard MOBA game. Free)
Hearthstone (Blizzard TCG game. Free)

That's really about it. I'm kind of bored and need a new game. I used to be super competitive. Got sponsored and played semi professionally for awhile in Quake. I'm married with 2 kids now. I still want to be that good, but can't put in the time. So it's a balance. Also i just built a new PC.and need to buy a GPU. Will probably pickup Overwatch and maybe Doom. I'd really like a good MMO though.

I just downloaded Sisters to see if I can even tolerate entry level horror. I don't have a controller for Dreadhalls, but I have a feeling I wouldn't last a minute in that game anyway.

*edit - Yeah, VR horror is definitely not for me.

Skyrim is one of favourite games of all time, but I've heard a few disparaging reports about the online game, that have put me off a little. Is it any good and does it compare with Skyrim?

To be honest I have always liked it but the changes they have made to provide more freedom and the thieves guild and dark brotherhood DLCs have made it a place I love to be. In the fall more big changes are coming and it will be more like Skyrim than ever before. It is my first and only MMO so I can't compare it to anything but I really like the playing with others thing.

I haven't played a video game in nearly two months; I had the ultimate ragequit back in May. I was trying to beat Hard Mode in Nuclear Throne (which they should really call impossible mode, I'm pretty sure only a couple of dozen people in the whole world have beaten it) and in a fit of rage I cracked the screen of my laptop. . .

I only mention it because about a week after this happened, a mod was released that lets you play online co-op. . . Which looks awesome:

And then a couple of days ago, sign-up for the next speedrunning tournament started, which I'd been practicing for since December of last year.

But, I have to let it go. My obsession with Nuclear Throne is like an abusive relationship. The game keeps hurting me but I still love it. . .

you might want to hold off for a month or so as they will be selling an omnibus version with all of the DLC content in a month or two of the same price as the base game today.... Note also that the bottomless crafting bag is something that you get for subscribing to the game but to me as someone that enjoys crafting in MMO games that bag has made a huge change for the better and I doubt I would still be playing without it.

I treat Skyrim as a way to play mods, so I'm not sure how well the online game would stand up since it presumably can't be modded.

Edit: oh, yeah, was playing Dirt Rally in VR the other day. Pretty good, but it does show up some limitations in the graphics, where things that looked '3D' on a monitor seem to be flat in VR.

Due to work I have not been playing games for some months. Durint the last 3 weeks I have been blazing through Uncharted 4 (great!) and have appr. 25 hours in Fallout 4.
Generally speaking I prefer Fantasy Settings but this one is really good. I guess it will last for some more weeks.

Next one will be Dark Souls 3 in Fall/Winter. Looking very much Forward to this one.

Beside that there are not too many new games on the horizon. Skyrim coming to PS4 is great News of course. I am also planning to Play Dark Souls 2 on the PS4 again with all the Downloads.

Dishonored 2 and Rise of the Tomb Raider for PS4 are others that are on my list.

Anyone played Shadows of Mordor, Evil Within, Bound by Flame or Thief? Any good?

Shadows of Mordor is fun, but it gets a bit repetitive after a while. It's also quite daunting at the start because it's one of the rare games that gets much easier as you progress. I didn't finish it, but mostly because I got distracted by VR first.

Xbox One: Skyrim, Deus Ex, Metal Gear Phantom Pain, Assassin's Creed Unity and Witcher. I really love Witcher, I love the layout, the ability to go anywhere and the graphics are brilliant. What I don't like is that you are given these quests and have to follow them but in half of the ones I've gotten into, they were too early in the game. I didn't have enough power or weaponry skills to even come close to killing the low-level evils and it is frustrating. Having to backtrack in the game to find a point where I'm safe, it wastes a lot of time.

Anyone heard of Morrowind, the Elder Scrolls III? I never play PC games (well, not since I was about 15), but my brother just bought it and I actually tried it out a bit. Seems pretty fun. Not sure if I have enough time to spend on it though... That's my main problem with most games. The time that I could spend on games is usually spend on books.
Try Skyrim.... SOOOO much better

I played in the Nuclear Throne Summer Tournament earlier today. Unfortunately I lost in round one, and am now eliminated from the tourney; not terribly surprised, I'd watched my opponent play in the last tournament and I knew he'd be a serious challenge. Even if I'd beaten him, the guy I was lined up to play against in round two is one of the top players in the world.

Still, it was a close match. I might have won if not for a couple of critical errors during my runs. The whole video is up on Twitch (Nuclear Throne Summer Tournament Day 8):
