TV Series or Show You're Watching

Clearly designed to shock, though that Guardian quote is quite damning, isn't it? "stylised violence and a total lack of morals." Wow.

I was reading yesterday that the series has been popular - perhaps Amazon's most-watched to date.
It's exactly that straight from the opening scene. If you love post-Kill Bill Tarantino you just might like it. I grew up in the 1980s however when awareness of the holocaust was different than it is for young people today perhaps. It is telling this is an Amazon production.

Hunters is sort of like crossing the Rubicon in popular entertainment IMO. This sort of filth used to be extremely low budget.

Ouch...the first major disappointment of the year has arrived...

I'd been really looking forward to season 2 of Altered Carbon, but jeez, they've messed it up. Storyline, dialogue, actors, credibility...it all really bad. The Witcher bad. But without the campy feel. It's not just a little worse than season 1, it's incomparably worse. Real shame. The books were great, season 1 was great...and now this :(

I thought season 1 was already awful, but the first 2 episodes of season 2 were dreck.

I couldn't get into it either, watched only a couple of episodes I think...
This show is so crude and shallow. The only thing it has going for it is that it looks great. And practically everything looks great nowadays anyway.

and this week on Picard,
the captain takes another random detour in his quest to save the galaxy to chill with some old crew members on a random out of the way planet. Only they get sidelined so the kid actor gets more script time than them

I was rewatching some old season 2/3 episodes of the next generation this week- there's a massive difference in tone and quality IMHO

Good point fluffy, though I did enjoy it a lot. :)

I watched the first episode of Dev, the latest series from Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation) about a computer engineer investigating a quantum computing company over the disappearance of her boyfriend.

Alex Garland said about the series "I read more about science than anything else, and it started with two things. One was getting my head around this principle of determinism, which basically says that everything that happens in the world is based on cause and effect...That has all sorts of implications for us. One is that it takes away free will, but the other is that if you are at a computer powerful enough, you could use determinism to predict the future and understand the past. If you unravel everything about you, about the specifics of you why you prefer a cup of coffee to tea...then five seconds before you said you'd like to have a cup of coffee one would be able to predict you'd ask for it."

So far it's been good, seems like it will be a slow-burn type of story.

It was nice to see the old crew again. 'Stay as long as you need' - it's a shame that the writers didn't heed that advice.

I don't mean to bash the writers but Picard seems to be the last character who needed sensitivity training.
Hopefully it won't be long before Worf shows up. The TNG actors were always close to each other and many share the same agents (as evidenced by the choice of voice actors in X-Com 2 War of the Chosen).

I watched the limited series The Hot Zone. I thought it was good, but not great. I would recommend it though. It's got a really good cast of characters for what it is.
