Was looking at this one over the weekend. Interested to read what you think, Atramentous. Saw the 1983 movie at the pictures, so it'll be interesting to compare...

I watched the first episode and then rewatched the 1983 movie.... I like the movie better I read the book back when it was published in the late 70s I think and like it better than both... the series has more of the books detail but I like the acting in the film over that in the series

Just finished watching the new/latest series of The Twilight Zone. Far, far better than season 1, but the last few episodes were pretty dreck. Overall though, much improved. I think the voiceover was a bad idea though here: where the line "the pit of Man's fears and the summit of his knowledge" was changed to "the pit of one's fears and the summit of one's knowledge." It sounds clunky and very obvious. I understand the "man" had to be changed, and putting man and woman in would be stupid, but what was wrong with "our"?

Anyway, highlights for me: Ovation, Meet in the Middle, Downtime, The Who of You, A Small Town.

Agree. I watched the first two episodes, which deal with the recruitment of the Mercury Seven, their personal lives (varying from perfect to not so much) and PR/media concerns. No in-space action or even training scenes yet. It's OK so far, but I also liked the movie better.

I watched the Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor. I really liked it, but the wife thought it was slow. It did start kind of slow, but it really picked up in the 2nd half. I really enjoyed it. We watched all 9 episodes back to back.

I have been dipping into the old Simpsons Halloween specials this week and this week it ha been the shows from the 1990s and there are some good laughs in them

I just finished the Boys. What a violencefest.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I'm glad that in an age where people seem to be extremely sensitive about what's considered inappropriate, some shows aren't remotely afraid to be offensive for the sake of comedy.

That show is still running?! I used to love that show up until season 7 or so. Maybe I should give it another chance.

Finished Fort Salem. I have to say, I am impressed, and I'm glad to see for once that a show I like has NOT been cancelled, even if filming will of course be delayed due to our now-constant companion.

Watched first episode of Season 3 of Star Trek: Discovery, which is available on Netflix here in the UK.

Enjoyed it - some interesting developments, although the new character really wants to be Idris Elba...

Yes, one episode a week, though.

I have yet to watch season 2.

Season 2 was so much better than Season 1, IMO: the story moves away from the Klingons. The return of an old character who briefly appeared in the Original Series was a major improvement - so much so that I believe a spin-off series is in the making....

Watched first episode of Season 3 of Star Trek: Discovery, which is available on Netflix here in the UK.

Enjoyed it - some interesting developments, although the new character really wants to be Idris Elba...

Netflix seems to have at last blocked access to the UK site via my VPN That I enjoyed for quite some time. I was able to log in to their sites all around the English speaking world with my US account details... I would be happy to be charged double my current fees to get that access back.

The insularity that these Rights Management Blocks create is a major pet peeve right down to the way books are released or not released in the different sections of the world...

One World one copyright etc. if Netscape and other outlets of that kidney have obtained the distribution rights to something those rights should be universal and worldwide...

Ok, that sets the world to rights... job is done... you can thank me later... puts away collection of a magic lamp and monkey's paw and other eldritch items of similar power

You know, that's weird. With VPN on, in Ireland, no Star Trek at all on Netflix but with it OFF, every Trek incl Discovery. You might - oddly enough I know but worth a shot - try it without VPN?

Yeah, re Discovery: I just got an email from Netflix to say it's available to me. They know I'm in Ireland, so for us at least it should be available. I expect Windshadow it's the same for you in the UK. Did you manage to get it? Seems like it should not be blocked.

Been meaning to watch this for a while. I started about 10 years ago, I think then stopped. Creepy carnival, heavy on the Ray Bradbury but with more nudity than I remembered:

I watched that years ago. Damn strange. I can't remember if it ended well but I think it was cancelled. Just saying. Just checked and yeah, it was. But worth watching certainly.
