TV Series or Show You're Watching

Well I was wrong about Stitchers. They did wrap it up by the end of season 3, though at the very last moment they (rather stupidly in my opinion) threw in a last sentence as a "cliffhanger" to carry over I guess to season 4, and guess what?

Haven't really found a drama series (cable or otherwise) that has grabbed my attention for the entire series since we ran across "Saving Hope" last year. Like all series, it wavered in the mid season plot-wise..but finished well, I thought.

Have tried Various amazon Prime & Netflix series, but have never found one to hold my interest. Gave up on "Carnival Row"...just too dark & unrelentingly dreary.

Currently, we are just watching pre-recorded favorite movies over and over, lol. And doing a lot more reading.

Have you tried Public Enemy? Or The Bridge? Or DNA? Gomorra? Some great series there that seldom if ever flagged.

For this evening:

Episode 1. Resident Alien
Alan Tudyk is very watchable if the writing is good I expect him to deliver.
I hope it is not just a reboot of third rock from the sun.

And Yep series is set to record just in case.

It is, and he does.

Most definitely not. It is quirky though and I enjoyed the first one very much.
Yes I agree the show is on his shoulders and he carries it well.... those mountain folk tolerate folks who do not fit in elsewhere.... the addition of the kid was a cool move

I started watching the Snowpiercer series last night. I'm enjoying it so far and i like that they have deviated from the story somewhat by introducing a murder element to it. Five episodes to go, which i'm hoping to finish by tomorrow.

Started watching Resident Alien last night. Really great, though I thought it was only a half hour and put it on at 3:30, (that's in the morning, folks) so had to go to bed without finishing it. Looking forward to more. Didn't get the clever pun in the title until I began watching it - love the alien CGI. The kid was hilarious!

"It's late and it's dark. I'll just go and break into that kid's house and kill him. At least whiskey is allowing me to make serious, informed decisions."

Next morning.

"Headache. Nausea. Disorientation. Alcohol must not affect humans the way it does us, or they would never drink it!"
:D

Kind of random perhaps, but I've recently been uncovering cartoons from the 80s (before my time) - to my great amusement. He-Man was the only one I had any kind of previous exposure to.

But my favorite so far has been Defenders of the Earth. MASK is a little boring sometimes, and Galaxy Rangers is...interesting.

Re-watching Firefly.
You probably have seen it, but if you haven't and you are
going for complexity or depth, this is not your series.
It's a Western in space. Noble, cute characters winning out over adversity and bad guys. Even a touch of SF.
Has sexy women who are celebrated for just that, being sexy.
Also tough and skilled.
The pleasures of watching eight capable cast members exceeds even the obvious unrealities of COWS AND SIX SHOOTERS IN SPACE!!!!. Plus con men and big nasty cannibal psychotic marauders. And some nice tech, but that isn't what the show is about
Horribly mistreated by Fox when it came out. Shown out of order, with the intro episode last, never allowed to build any buzz. Cancelled without even broadcasting the last two filmed episodes. Assigned the death slot of Friday evening. Horrible ratings due to all the mis-management described above and more. One would think that if you got Josh Whedon to do a show for you, after Buffy and Angel, you would give him some leeway and perhaps, even listen to him.
Quoting,
"According to Business Insider, Fox's bigwigs had a problem with second-in-command Zoe (Gina Torres) and pilot Wash (Alan Tudyk) being happily married characters. Fox told Whedon to nix their marriage, or they'd nix the deal. Sticking to his guns, Whedon told them that this was the story, as presented."
I could go on.
Now a fan favorite to the level that it was one of four series celebrated in The Big Bang Theory. Awarded 2 Saturns and an Emmy. One of HULU's more popular streaming series.

L.U.C.A.: The Beginning (2021) Episode 1 - pretty darn good, imo. Genetically enhanced superpowers guy Zi Oh / Ji Oh on the run from the evil corporation that created him. Meets up with tough & quirky lady cop Gu Reum.
Available with English subtitles.

Over the last coupla weeks I've been binging Lucifer. I can't say that it's actually a good series, but it does make me want to know what happens next. And I love some of the supporting characters. I don't care for the female lead, though, and Lucifer's (Tom Ellis's) eyes really bug me.

I'm about 2/3 of the way through Season 3 now.

Yeah I wanted to like it but I got sick of Lucifer's self-satisfied smirk. Also: Lucifer Morningstar when it could so easily have been Lucifer Morgenstern? Bah. Gave up on it before season 2 I think.
