TV Series or Show You're Watching

We watched it for...surprise!...2 seasons. But even at the end of season 2 it was going downhill quickly. Never bothered with it again after 2.

It almost seems like most shows can imagine a decent series for about 1 season. 2 maybe. Then if they last, the next 3 seasons suck.

And if they are lucky, they manage a decent ending. Though most don't.

Exceptions would be Babylon 5, Deep Space 9, First Wave, Ripper Street, 30 Rock, Gomorrah....

For this evening:

The Invaders (1967) Episode 1. I haven't watched these since the late sixties.

Started watching Resident Alien last night. Really great, though I thought it was only a half hour and put it on at 3:30, (that's in the morning, folks) so had to go to bed without finishing it. Looking forward to more. Didn't get the clever pun in the title until I began watching it - love the alien CGI. The kid was hilarious!
Been watching this too - quite good!

For some reason my Netflix and Amazon accounts are pointing me toward Ghost comedies. In the last couple of months i've watched Spirited (an excellent Australian comedy drama), Deadbeat (a funny ghost comedy starting Tyler Labine), Truth Seekers (Starring Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. What's not to love?) and Stagrassle Paranormal (A low budget mockumentary style comedy. There have only been four episodes and i hope there are more as it is amusing.)

I'm not particularly interested in ghost BTW.

i just finished my watch through of all five seasons of Stargate Atlantis which is probably my favorite of the Stargate series. I liked SGU, but it was just too short. They took some interesting liberties with Season 5, particularly the episode “Vegas” which is really a detective show in an alternate universe. The final episode was sort of forced, to bring everything to a happy conclusion, but they had to end it somehow I guess. It is available for streaming on Amazon Prime.

Watching The Serpent, true-life drama based on the murderer Charles Sobhraj, who drugged, robbed and killed young people in Thailand from 1975-6. The stunning Jenna Coleman in a stone-cold killer-bitch role, and the underappreciated Tim McInnerney (Percy from Blackadder) make this a must watch.

Just picked up on a new to me series called Wearhouse 13
from about 10 years ago and so far at the 45 min point the pilot is a lot of fun.
the first season is free via IMDB
not sure how I missed it at the time or did it go downhill?
seems to be based on the what-if premise that the places for govt storage as seen in the Indiana Jones movies were "real

I didn't like W13: it seemed to use the same plot devices every week and I quickly got bored of it. Plus I didn't like any of the characters. It probably doesn't help that I loathe and despise Saul Rubinek.

Well, shows that are like this (lost for example) tend to go off the rails when it comes to plots after a season or three. If I can get even one season's worth of entertainment out of it then that is good...

As for Saul Rubinek I recall he gave a good performance as the reporter (or myth-maker?) in Unforgiven and he had a creepy part in The Balad of Buster Scruggs last year and it was another good performance. I don't pay any attention to celebrity gossip rags/sites so I know less than nothing about their private lives.

I remember yes he was good in Unforgiven. But he's still unforgiven for being Donnie in Frasier and capturing Data in The Most Toys, sorry.

The Wearhouse 13 series is free via IMDB with a small amount of advertising I don't know if that is for just the USA but I am sure a simple VPN like TunnerBear will fix that. The Pilot episode S1E1 I Thought was a good series introduction of its type.... it did what it was supposed to do and hook me into the series. episode 2 later this afternoon with a few beers before I cook My supper.

If you click on the link in the first post in this series you can click on each cast member to see what they have done and are doing.

it is several days later the 16th now I have watched 5 episodes and the writing continues above average as does the acting and production values.... but I can see the limits that would impact a show of this sort in its writing after 3 seasons

Not SFF or even close, but I just watched all 3 seasons of Ozark - bar the finale episode of season 3 which I will probably watch tonight. Without a doubt one of the best serials I have ever seen with some amazing acting and genuinely emotional storytelling.
