TV Series or Show You're Watching

Started watching the final season of Star Trek Picard. So far it’s been a nostalgic reunion with members of The Next Generation cast. We have a nasty new villain with a seriously badass ship. I’m liking it more than seasons one and two so far, but heck it’s Star Trek, I’m going to watch it anyway…

Started (again) "The Terminal List" with Chris Pratt. I had watched the first episode, but had to lay it aside due to some sound tech issues with the TV (now replaced). Couldn't make out what was being said.

Watched 3 episodes now though. Good show...lets see what happens now. Looks like it has gone into 2 seasons too.

I'm enjoying it! It's a good show in that there's suspense and good character drama. However, it's a long way from discovering Hortas and making peace with new planets. It's not what Roddenberry conceived of, it lacks the magic of optimistic exploration of space.

The Last of Us is the best thing I'm watching right now, and the most recent episode 8 was one of the best - so much tension, and Bella Ramsey's acting's brilliant.
That episode was seriously suspenseful! It also subverted expectations…

Anybody excited about the Silo series on Apple TV+? It’s based on the best selling novel Wool by Hugh Howey (and presumably its sequels). I need to actually read Wool before May 5th when the series starts, it’s been on my to read list forever. Speaking of which, the e-books in the Silo Series Collection has been on sale on Kindle and Apple Books for $1.99 in case one wants to read before watching…

Will def check out (Wool book series was pretty good).

Watching old stuff on my box and came across the "revival" of The X-Files. Overall, I'd have to say I was very disappointed with it. They had a basic idea for a sort of story arc that spanned four, maybe five episodes, and the rest was just filled in with what can only be termed nonsense episodes. Even the ending STILL left loose ends. After thirty years, you'd think they would have sorted it out by now. Would have been better leaving it as it was I feel. A poor legacy for the show.

Now watching Django (based on the movies) which I really hated when it began but have got into now and am quite enjoying.

Goaded on by my daughter, my wife and I have watched the first 6 episodes of The Last of Us. (Really, what is it with the proliferation of fungal fiction lately?) In spite of hitting several of the same notes as The Walking Dead, it's powerful and mainly because of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. The 3rd episode, co-starring Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett, is exceptionally touching, and the 5th hits nearly as hard.

Coincidentally, persuaded by my youngest to do the same over the weekend. Up to episode 5 here. Very good. Will be rationing the rest to one a night for the rest of the week, probably. I really didn't like Walking Dead and stopped way back after Season 2.

Didn't realize it was coming out so soon. I just happen to be reading Wool right now. It's very suspenseful.

As someone who loved/loves the Big Bang Theory I was sucked into the new iteration of Night Court.
All the things that gave Melissa Rauch character on the BBT: caustic wit, the ability to react to and even dominate the conversation with other strong characters, facial expression acting, are all missing in her lead character role on NC. Not to mention its lousy scripts where forced quirky characters take the place of plot.
Miz pogo and I actually viewed a couple of the original series to see what was different between two essentially similar silly comedies.. Well, Harry Anderson in the original was actually given character and scripts, not just smarmy dogoodism. I am sorry for Melissa Rauch. She has done better.

Finished The Last of Us. It's very good, if not perhaps entirely deserving of some of the rabid reactions online. Definitely will be up for genre awards next year.

Am also enjoying Picard Season 3, even if some of the things they are doing are definitely not Roddenberry's Federation. Just watched Episode 5.

Well, Pogo, your post sucked me into watching the new Night Court.

The original was one of my favourite shows of its era.
They would do a lot better with just doing a once-over rewrite & reuse of some of those original scripts.

Having enjoyed The Traitors, Channel 4 recommended me Rise and Fall, and although I'm only one episode in I am enjoying it. Sixteen people are split into workers (Grafters) and bosses (Rulers) and have to work together to earn up to 100 grand. The usual clashes of personalities ensue, with the Rulers having to motivate the Grafters - who are the only ones who can earn money by putting in "work shifts" but also the only ones who can't win the prize unless they're elevated to Ruler status - to work and make money for them, while also keeping them onside. It's going to be good.
