Dark Tower Movie

We can but try. If anything maybe it will inspire future works that are of superior quality.

How do you think the Crimson King will be depicted?
Cgi, or the heavy costume style of Hell boy movies which makes it very sweaty for the actors.

I'm hoping that it's the material costume same stuff used in the hellboy movies.

The original book illustration was good....

and the Marvel interpretations were interesting....

Maybe a fusion of some of the better images?

With all due respect to the Wired article, I don't think anyone ever said this was going to be an absolutely faithful page-by-page visualization of the novels.
It is an attempt to create a film based on those stories. I'm the first to admit that Sony's involvement in the project gave me misgivings, but I'll give the film a viewing and make up my own mind.
What I'd like to see happen, unlikely as it might be, is what happened after the film MASH was released in 1970. The success of the film spawned a very long lived TV series. If the DT film was successful enough, I'd like to see a Netflix or HBO series come out of it that would please fans by being more faithful to the source material. With a series (as opposed to a film) they would have the time to tell the entire story properly.

That's a shame, I was looking forward to it (will still watch it but the reviews are a bit deflating). Also Matthew McConaughey doesn't appeal as a good " man in black", I can't think of him being evil enough.

A neighbor who is a massive Stephen King fan and was his neighbor back in the 80s before he moved here further down the Mid coast has told me he was massively disappointed with it and went so far as to say it is the worst adaption of the masters work to date. Now perhaps as such a through student of King's written work he might have enjoyed it just as a genre flick but he said not... there were too many plot holes to keep his disbelief suspended even on that score

I enjoyed it, but then again, I am not a fan of the book, so it was easy for me to like it.

Sooooo, just watched the movie and apart from the character names and the existence of a tower, it's nothing to do with the book at all. Bitterly disappointing as a fan of King and the books. I'm not saying the film was bad, as a standalone action film, it held its own but the book? I mean where was the book??????????

Yeah, the plot and the tower are different. I thought it was going to be a sequel. Like Roland already made it to the tower, now here's the 2nd time. That way things can be a lot different and we would be okay with it. But the entire plot, rather the entire reason Roland is even doing what he is doing is different. The tower's function is different. It was an okay movie, but disappointing.

Foreshadowing the Crimson King is the Big Bad likely for several movies similar to what was used in Harry Potter with Lord Voldemort.

For me it is a fantastic Supernatural Horror Fantasy Action movie.
If Roland is superhuman fast the same as the original book version for shooting then would he have no challenge defeating foes?
