I have to ask, Shanoncia. You just finished it....which part are the story sticks out the most?

I myself, keep thinking of Simon crawling around underground, not knowing if he will get out!

Actually, As I was commenting in another thread, what really sticks our to me in MS&T was how Tad took me right into the world of the supernatural, to be consumed by the thoughts of those who passed before me, to feel the emotions of the dead surge past me in a violent gust of wind, a wind full of voices! Oh the road of dreams, and our minds the door to it! What a journey!

Amongst it all this book was full of some amazing quotes, I'll have to look p my favourites later.

Yes, that one " I Have a knife" my little sister says it once in a while, It's a good one.:D

“One pretty woman means fun at the dance. Two pretty women mean trouble in the house. Three pretty women mean run for the hills.”

-Matrim Cauthon, The Dragon Reborn

Interesting topic.. I know I have read a ton of sentences and passages that are so good that I just have ro re-read them. Unfortunately, I've only recently started to mark these in books that I own or write them down from books that I'm borrowing. There are a couple of authors that really stand out for me. One is Charles de Lint and the other is Robin Hobb.

Charles de Lint is able to put words to feelings that I've had for a long time. I tend to say things like, "That's exactly how I feel!" when reading his books. Here are a couple of quotes in particular:

"I have no vices. I have no strong political or religious beliefs, I'm not given to causes, and I've always treated people the way I'd want them to treat me. Decently, with a little distance. It means I have far more acquaintances than I have real friends"

Along the same line...

"Nobody else seemed to measure up. But now she found herself wondering, was that the real reason, or was it more that she didn't measure up? That she couldn't face up the to the responsiblity that having friends involved? But that wasn't it entirely either. The thought of making friends scared her so much she didn't even bother to try anymore, because it was easier to stay aloof and not get hurt".

On a lighter note:
"To discover who you are, first learn who everybody else is - and you're what's left".

Cygnus

What books are your quotes from? The second quote of yours sounds interesting!

On a lighter note:
"To discover who you are, first learn who everybody else is - and you're what's left".

That's great. But I'm not to sure about it... Hmm... :confused:

"Yet it is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule."
-- Gandalf, "The Return of the King"

Hey I had forgotten that one Miri. Thanks. I actually used that on an essay once and got a really good mark! So I recopmmend it to all the english students out there. :)

A quote with referance to our beloved Aragorn... tho a quote that say much about all...

"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by frost."

If you must mount the gallows, give a jest to the crowd, a coin to the hangman, and make the drop with a smile on your lips.

Birgitte,Wheel of Time.

there are many books that have wicked quotes, but alas most of them are in england in a loft, while i am here in oz. one that i read recently and moves me tho is from Memories of ice by erickson;
Gods below, I have made a friend this night. When did I last stumble on such a gift? I cannot remember. Hoods breath, I cannot.
it's from whiskeyjack. and i'm feeling it!

From MoI too this simple statement:
-I lost a friend
Very moving, simple and elegant, it's much said in a few words. One of the most memorable lines.
