First Fantasy book you ever read/Introduction to Fantasy

For me, it was The Hobbit when I was eleven years old, and then I became totally entranced with the genre.

My mother read The Hobbit and C.S. Lewis' Chronicle of Narnia to me all before I was six. I don't know which one came first.

I forgot all about The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. I remember reading it when I was 12 but I think I was made by the school system.
I didn't read the other books in the series until years later

My very first book was The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe , by Lewis. I read it as a kid, but didnt read anymore fantasy until I got older and then I read LOTR's and never looked back

The Hobbit for me too, but, it was Magician Apprentice that hooked me. I remember buying it for the sake of the Kulgan on the cover, with a giant pointed hat. I still have the copy of it, worn & torn. But, well loved.
