I Just Bought (DVD)

I just bought:

Shark Tale
I (Heart) Huckabees

and a documentary:

The Story of Islam

Shaun of the Dead
The Village
Star Trek: First Contact
Heat: Special Edition
Apollo 8: Leaving the Cradle
Get Shorty
Absolute Power
Saw

I just bought the Star Wars: Clone Wars cartoon/movie on DVD.

IT RULES!

Evil Agent,

Do they have the same actors doing the voices?

If they don't, how is the voice work?

I just got:

Being Julia
Vera Drake

and two sets:

Northern Exposure, Season 2
West Wing, Season 4 (Happy, Happy Joy, Joy)

Black Books ~ Series 1,2 & 3

The Dark Crystal ~ I am really pleased that this still holds up, a magical film.

Babylon 5 Series 1

Hey Kanin,

I don't think it's the same actors, except for Yoda. Obi-Wan MIGHT be the right actor, but it's hard to tell. For the most part the voice acting is good (Anakin is annoyingly whiny, but that's sort of in character isn't it?). Dooku is ok but I missed Christopher Lee's voice!

But for the most part the dialogue is very secondary to the visuals, which is the focus of this cartoon. I highly recommend it!

About two weeks ago: Grave of the Fireflies (Double disc special edition)

Yesterday: Alexandra's Project (Special edition; ordered it in Australia for only 6 Euro :D )
Anyone who knows this movie? It was mainly shown on film festivals and was nominated for some awards. I watched it two years ago and it took me a while to get in on DVD.
What it's about? A man comes home on his birthday, his wife and children are gone and instead he finds a tape which says 'play me'. And the biggest part of the movie he spends watching this tape on which his wife is talking to him . . .
It's unusual and it's great. :)

Firefly for £18! Bargain. Watched the first two episodes - converted my housemates :D

Not long ago I picked up the Director's Cut of Donnie Darko. Already watched it all the way through with the commentary by Richard Kelly (producer) and Kevin Smith, which explained a lot of the ideas and concepts behind the film. One of the few DVDs I take pride in :D

I just bought Mr Deed goes to town with Gary Cooper, and Mr Smith goes to Washington with James Stewart. Two films I have never seen but always meant to, they were quite cheap on play dot com, and I can't wait. Can't remember if they are both Frank Capra films or if it is just Mr Deeds that is.....

Been some time since I last posted here, but recently:

Babylon 5: series 3 & 4 (thank you choicesdirect.com who incidently do Firefly for less than was mentioned about ;) )
The Sting - if only it hadn't been remade as hustle
The Adventures of Robin Hood - quaint film. Rubbish extras on the 2nd disc though
Run Lola Run - seen it before but it's still something Hollywood would never attempt to make.
The Day the Earth Stood Still - great example of a pulpy 50s SF movie.

Well still awaiting:

X-files Season 1
Citizen Kane (my video seems to have gone missing)
Bride of Frankenstein
Touch of Evil (when's double indemity coming out anyway?)

I just bought:
Se7en
Fight Club
Minority Report
Bicentennial Man, I figured with all of the unhappy/ dark SF film I have, I should buy a happy uplifting one, and besides, ISAAC ASIMOV, come on, honestly.

but in the "bad"(as in old, B/W, B-films) movie department, I bought:
House on Haunted Hill
Last Man on Earth
Tormented
Little Shop of Horrors
Dr. Jekle and Mr. Hyde
King of the Zombies
and the old animated Animal Farm

The Incredibles

and Fingersmith is on its way. I have already seen this adaptation so I know what I am buying. I actually think the last part (it's a three part series) is a bit weak - or even very weak. But I liked the first and second part well enough and since I love the book . . . ah, the urge to collect stuff. ;)

The Lone Gunmen (X-Files Spin Off) ~ Series 1

Anyone seen it?

Lemony Snickett's A Series of Unfortunate Events

House of Flying Daggers

Hotel Rwanda

Barbie: Fairytopia (my daughter is three, but I am a Bibble fan meself!)

'Friends' Series 8....at a knock-down price, for the small sacrifice of being unable to read the box! (It's in Dutch....I think....)
