Just got a shipment from Amazon:

Are those Douglas Niles books any good? I recall the name from his TSR/WotC days.
 
Just picked up Kings Dragon and the first book in the Prince of Nothing series.
 
I hardly ever go to the bookstore. The only one within 50 miles is very small, not much to choose from.

But I had a gift certificate so I went yesterday. They had 8 racks of fantasy but I had no clue what to get. I recognized all the writers' names and many titles but I couldn't remember what SFFers had said about any of them.

The only fantasy I brought home was 1632 -- forgot the author's name -- some people from our time end up in Germany during the Thirty Years War. I like time travel stories and have high hopes for this one.

I haven't read any of this series yet since I don't start a series until all the books are out. Now that I have book 3, I can finally read it :D

That'll be Eric Flint, Pam. Haven't read it myself but I understand it to be a fairly light/fun alternate history.

Did you know there is a sequel, subtly called 1633... ?

Flint does have a touch of humor. But Subtlty, I am not so sure of ;) . Yes there is 1633, which I think may be out in PB, but there are also two sequels to 1633.

They are both in HC and one is a story by Flint and another author, Andrew Dennis - whom I have never heard of, the other is an anthology set in the world Flint created with the stories set in 1634.

The Anthology is called Ring of Fire, Sequel to 1633 and the new story is called: 1634: the Galileo Affair.

I enjoyed 1632 and have an arc of 1633, but it looks like he ran out of steam and ideas in 1634, so I probably won't get that far.

I just bought Last Light of the sun, by Guy Gavriel Kaye. So easter will be a good break!
 
Like Leiali, just bought Last Light of the Sun; also Erikson's Midnight Tides (yes, a late addition, but I know I wouldn't have had time to read it before now, and the fact that it was an edition for £5 (erm, $8?) and The Language of Stones by Robert Carter - alternate History, Arthurian legend thing.

Are by ecommerce, delivered by post, therefore could take a while to arrive...doubt in time for Easter!

I am completely gutted I got Last Light of the Sun for full price £17.99. I just could not wait:(

Wish I had held off - will check out that link Hobbit to try to avoid financial ruin. There were at least three other hard backs I wanted...
 
that's just mean posting a link like that when they don't ship to denmark. mean I tell ya!
