Greetings All,

My name is Susan and I am from the prairie lands of Illinois. I was surprised that I hadn't discovered this board sooner when I joined last month. I love talking books to death so this is the perfect place for me. I imagine I'll be spending most of my time in the fantasy forum, but occasionally I do read some science fiction.

Glad to be here!
Susan :p

Welcome Susan :) I lived in Illinois for a year, on exchange to the University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana. Quite a pretty place but not much between there and Chicago, other than fields :D

Hi, I'm Space Trumpet...probably the only musical instrument amongst the stars without a spacesuit. :D

I like a mix of sci-fi fiction, fantasy, and some general stuff, sometimes history. Looks great here. Really liked Imajica by Clive Barker.

That's very interesting! I'm a student at the University of Illinois studying English and Rhetoric. We get a lot of international students here, I always wonder if they feel slighted because it's such a distance between here and many of the more exciting places in the United States (other than Chicago and St. Louis. However, I made friends with a guy from Reading, England and I believe by the end of his stay here he'd visited more places in the United States than many of my American friends have!

Anyways, thanks for the welcome.

Hi there. I live in England and I'm going to university near the end of the year (To study Business Studies).
So...uh....Hi!

Greetings Reyna, Arutha, SusanRae, Cloud Strife and Beorn. It's a great thing to see such a constant influx of newbies. ;)

Sounds like you're having a bad hair day, my dear.....but do try to keep the thread on topic.;)

My applogies, bad hair day was a little understated, for future reference, where would that kind of post go (besides on a mental asylum forum)

The Funzone is a mental asylum forum and although you'll need to register there as well :( You can do and say anything to relieve the stress :D

Hello. I'm gertie. I am a native Californian. I'm a writer - no, probably nothing you've read yet (although it is something I do get paid for sometimes) but I'm working on it. I do freelance non-fiction mostly right now, but I've got an intereting urban fantasy that I'm working on.

I read more science fiction than fantasy, but I came to fantasy a bit late. I also read a lot of non-fiction, and I'm a sucker for a good mystery or police procedural, but I mostly outgrew romance novels in junior high and I don't think I've ever read a western - well, I did read Louis L'Amour's The Haunted Mesa, but that was really more fantasy than western.

Other interests include anthropology (which is what my degree is in), history, belief systems (religions, philosophies, political systems, and the like), music (all kinds), and films.

First time novel..publisher?

Hi guys:
Finished a love and adventure novel about Cuba and South Florida. I'm an experienced writer of cruising and sailing magazine articles but this is my first novel. Tell me how to find a publisher not a preditor! I'm very reluctant to spend money on self publishing if I don't know the company. Do I need an agent if so who? Any ideas?
Dick

Hi,
My name is Vendetta and i'm not to be mistaken as a female..lol..anyways I was wondering if ya'll could help me me by telling me what popular and whatnot on the site.

Hello all - I'm feeling slightly intimidated by the size of this place, as usual when I join a new forum, but please make allowances if I reopen old discussions/repeat things that have been said many times. I'm delighted to see that George RR Martin has a little sub-forum of his own - that'll be the main hang-out for me, I expect.
