Hello, after some fiddling around trying to get registered I finally managed to get the confirmation E-mail by creating an entirely new e-mail address and registering under that. This place just looked so interesting I had to have forum rights. So now that I'm here I hope I don't make too much of a pest of myself. Anyway, a little personal info:
I'm a university student in South Carolina, looking to graduate in December. English major (oh the useless horror :-) ) but mainly because I really am good with the language (or so I think) and harbor writing as one of my foremost passions. I work on sci-fi/fantasy when I write and have completed one book-length story (unpublished) a few short stories and have one novella and another book length story in progress. All of my stories take place within the same continuum. All of my stories reflect my faith, which is the most important part of who I am and of understanding me. My two favorite series ever are the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis and The Deed of Paksennarrion by Elizabeth Moon. I also was very fond of the Dragons of Pern novels by Anne McCaffrey when I was younger. Thanks to the heads of this site for setting up such a cool place.

Greeting From Upstate NY

Well, the tag is Ebenstone and you can call me Ebenstone. I am a high school English teacher at an inner city high school in Syracuse, NY and a wannabe novelist. I just finished my first year and am completely vegging for this part of the summer. I have always been an AVID reader of everything, but fantasy became my favorite since Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I am a Star Wars apologist as well and worship at its church!

I fell in love with LOTR when I was in 5th or 6th grade and moved on to D&D novels in middle school. The Dragonlance series was a favorite and I think there will always be a soft spot in my heart for RA Salvatore and his Dark Elf series. I read a lot of other stuff and told anyone who would listen I would be a novelist someday. At the time I was talking more "modern literary fiction" but I always wanted to write that "big, door stopper fantasy." I experimented and wrote, took classes and only managed a C, but that changed on a freezing day in Oswego, NY.

I had just finished my last class of my bachelor's work and stopped for lunch. Next door to the pizza place was an independent bookstore and with the cash in pocket I picked up A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin. I can honestly say that was the day my life changed. Little over a year later, I finished the first draft of my novel. I'm a full on Martin disciple now. I'm a big fan of the Man, Greg Keyes, Neil Gaiman, Tolkien, George Lucas, Ray Bradbury and John Steinbeck. I've recently become rabid over Henryk Sienkiewicz, a Polish author who wrote the "Trilogy," the great Polish epic.

I've written tons of short stories and finished my first novel, which is presently shelved for a while as I work on other things, including my most recent project: a GRRM-esque teen fantasy-adventure series. I've got lots of other pots boiling as well, but we will see.

Way Down South in Dixie

Hi. I'm Charlotte.

I currently live in Jackson, MS. Taking care of an elderly mother alone. Boy, she's a handful, too. Now I know why I never wanted kids.

Being that I live in Mississippi and there isn't that much to do here, especially after Katrina, I like to write personal short stories about people leaving and finding new worlds and new lives. They re-invent themselves and enjoy the company of new friends as well. I do enjoy meeting new people from all over the world.

I write about my hunting and fishing adventures, too. From early January freezing cold mornings climbing a tree with the aid of a climbing tree stand to fishing for crappie below the Ross Barnett Reservoir on a warm afternoon, I write and share my experiences. The boys over at Crappie.com seem to like my stories.

I come from a classic dysfunctional family and all that drama gets weaved into my stories, too. Some people like being surrounded by large groups of friends, but I am the exact opposite. Some of the best times of my life were spent sitting around a campfire with just a handful of folk as we talked about our lives and our dreams. Strangers make for the best stories, as well as having the best candy.

Now, if I can only figure out how to post a story. Can you lend a helping hand here please? What link do you click to submit a story? I've looked and can't find it.

In the homepage at the very bottom of the page it says Contribute/Submit go there and then register your names tick the box that you have read the terms and conditions and then you are away:)

Thank you, Beorn.

I had done that, but it was confusing. It appeared I was re-registering all over again. New password, new name, the works. But, I did as you informed me to do and kept going and I made it. :D

Now I have another question. When you save a story as a draft, does it appear to the public as an unfinished work?

Again, thank you, Beorn. Muwah! (That's a big kiss of appreciation. ;) )

Welcome to the forums Charlotte :). Draft stories are only visible to you.

wow

 Yeah, its been awhile, I dont have my own computer so its a bit tough for me... but I've been a member for a while now, and I am looking to network. I have want to start comic strips and publish short stories, and often run into problems posting form a public site so it tends to get put on a back burner, and I have to focus on work, but I am not happy doing so and feel I should devote my full atention to my art, but am not sure where the finacial stability will come into play. So there ya have it. I like to hear from poeple, so feel free...

New to the Boards!

Greetings Everyone!

My name is Nick Alimonos and I am very excited to become a part of this board! I have been reading and writing fantasy since I was 6 years old and have been looking for a cool place to discuss the kinds of things I love! I am hoping to make some new friends and hopefully some new fans.

A little about me: I am 31 yo, married, with one 2 year old daughter. I manage a pizza restaurant, got my BA at the University of South Florida in English fiction, and studied ancient Greek history in graduate school (but dropped out). My parents were both born in the historical city of Sparta, so Greek history and culture has become a major influence on my writing. I am also a naturist (both physically and philosophically).

Favorite Book: Dune by Frank Herbert
Favorite Fantasy Novel: The Once and Future King by T.H. White
Currently Reading: The Darkness that Comes Before by Scott Bakker

See you guy around,
Nick Alimonos
