Wow. I don't think I can beat Jessica. But I do love my science fiction and fantasy, and have even written some my own good self. I live in London, Ontario, just like R.Scott Bakker. Currently reading 'Tyranny of the Night' by Glenn Cook. Oh, and playing Starcraft for the first time. Yeah, so I'm a bit late.

Hello.

I guess I should have started right here with my introduction but I kind of got carried away and posted here and there first.

Anyway! Hello, I'm Flacara. It's one of the names I go by in the internet, one I used in a book discussion forum I dearly miss(Kaeleer's Heart, not only BJT books were talked about there). I hope to find other KH refugees here or/and find new fun faces to talk about literature and life in general.

I'm a big reading fan, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, fiction, I actually read all kinds of books though my current obsession is and has been for a while now, the Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop who is an awesome author.

I'm ranting, aren't I? Sorry!

Flac out!

Hey guys,

am new to this neck of the woods so thought id say hi. Its fair to say im a total bookworm and a bit of a science fiction nut to boot so this place looks like it could be fun :D

Hello everyone...

I'm Fink, at least in this forum. Erm, yeee... I like eating cheesedoodles ;) And I'm german, so I'm especially here to improve my language skills. Feel free to correct me if there are any mistakes :D

Looking forward to some interesting chats :)

Well it certainly is good to see a few new faces floating around. Welcome, I believe you will enjoy yourself here, much as I have.

Hi everyone.

I've been lurking here a little for a while, but I figured I might introduce myself anyway even though I probably won't be posting much.

I'm from Sweden and have been reading SF and fantasy since I was around 10 or so. It began with the Lord of the Rings and then I read fantasy almost exclusively for a long time, but a few years ago I shifted my focus away from that in order to try other things. I think I got a little tired of all the never-ending fantasy series out there. So recently I've been reading a lot of SF classics, some horror, and a few other odd things like ancient Greek epics and history books. I also like SF/fantasy/horror in the form of movies and TV shows. Other interest are comics, computers and gaming.

So yeah, I'm a nerd/geek. :)

Hi All,

My name is Clare and I've have just created a new science fiction video and would really like to know whether it is the type of thing that interests science fiction fans. We have had good feedback so far but want to get it out there to a few more people.

Its up on Youtube

I would really appreciate it if you could watch it and feedback as we are planning on making a series so want to get it right.

Thanks very much for your time and looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello, SFF Zealots

I just wished to pop in and add my own little introduction on this forum. My favorite authors, among others, are Neil Gaiman, Philip K. Dick, and Ursula Le Guin. I enjoy writing, largely science fiction and fantasy, gaming, and anime cel collecting.

Suddenly, this feels like group therapy. I just hope the folding chairs stay comfortable.

It's been a long time . . .

Well. it's been a couple years, but I'm finally back online and back at SFFWorld. Looks like a lot has happened since I left. Guess I'll have look around.

Greetings

I'm new to this discussion board. I was on here a few years ago. But posted very little and tonight decided to start up with a new ID. Favorite writers: Niven, Hogan (James), Clarke, Asimov, Vance, Sheffield, Chricton and others too numerous to mention. I hope to post here often and makes some new virtual friends.

Helo I'm Back Again . . . .

Name's Brad Smith. I'm a reporter for a Northern Californian daily newspaper. I was born in Ontario, Oregon--but I've always considered Ashland, Oregon, to be my hometown. I'm a White Anglo-Saxon Deist Libertarian Transhumanist SF/Fantasy/Horror fan and writer. As to what I look like, imagine Jerry Doyle (Garibaldi of Babylon-5) with a few extra kilos or so. I'm a fifth-generation Oregonian, although I've lived in Nebraska and Tennessee. I've been a clerk, a bouncer, short-order cook, theater-tech, a private security guard, served in the Air National Guard, worked in a military surplus store, a liquor store, a video-store clerk and a warehouse, working the nightshift. I also worked for a weekly newspaper, the North Platte Bulletin which can be read here at www.northplattebulletin.com . . . . All because I'm busy trying to establish myself as a professional, working writer. I've traveled a bit. As Gandalf once said, "All who wander aren't lost." Like Caine from "Kung Fu" and Zatoichi, I've walked the earth. I love TV/films, reading (I have over 900 books in my private library), photography, the Internet, the paranormal, the occult, role-playing games, religions, philosophy, history, trivia, conspiracy theories, science, dinosaurs, Asian cinema, anime/manga, Transhumanism, Libertarianism, Deism, Shakespeare, Oregon . . . . I also love the films of Kurosawa Akira and now own Seven Samurai, The Hidden Fortress, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Throne of Blood, Kagemusha and Ran. All save Ran are Criterion Edition DVDs. I just learned that Ran came out on Criterion--uber geek that I am, I must have it. Sports . . . I do like hockey, football (real football--soccer) and pro wrestling is a guilty pleasure of mine. I'm working two novels, one a "cyberspace opera" called "Fortune's Knight Errant." I took my love of space opera, threw in elements of anime/manga, exotic sciences such as nanotechnology and genetic engineering, politics, military history . . . . And put them all together into a good adventure story. The other novel, "Mnemonic Gun," is a novel that blurs the line between terrorism and freedom fighting. Part "Blade Runner," part "V For Vendetta" and throw in some alternate history with both cyberpunk and steampunk subgenres. Yes, I'm a geek and I'm proud of it . . . . Now, if only I can get others to understand that, life will be great. My articles can be found online at www.siskiyoudaily.com.

Someway I skipped this topic. I'm living three hours by bicycle south from Warsaw, Poland. I am a biochemist and manage diagnostic laboratory in the County Hospital in county of about 100 thousands souls. Now, how many of my fellow citizens I'm waiting for the opening of Duck hunting season.

Just wanted to say hey...I'm another one that was here a couple years ago. Good to be back, forum looks active. I'm an author and rabid reader from New England.

Greetings. :D

Hello,

I'm Steve Palmer, a newcomer to this forum. I post on a couple of other forums, notably the one at SFX, and also the new Interaction forum.

I'm a published SF author with six novels to my name. I was first published by Orbit (TimeWarner now), then after a dry spell went to the Wildside Press in America, then to Prime Books. My seventh novel is being published by PS Publishing, probably at the very end of the year; I'm delighted Pete Crowther there picked up that novel!

I'm known for 'green' or environmental novels. My debut Memory Seed and its sequel Glass are concerned with how we relate to the natural world. The third novel in this sequence, Flowercrash, is also 'environmentally aware'. Having then written Muezzinland (set in Africa) and Hallucinating (set in futuristic hippy festivals) I'm returning to the green theme in my forthcoming work.

More to browse at:

though do be aware that the site is being redesigned.

Hello Stephen: welcome to SFFWorld. Memory Seed had a great cover if I remember right! Congrats on the Pete Crowther deal: a good person to be connected with. :)

Hello to all the other newbies; hope the place is to your liking.

And look at all the returnees: in your cases, welcome back.

We look forward to all of your participation and hope you find places and themes of interest.

Hobbit

Thanks! Yes, I'm excited Pete took on the new novel.

Yes, Memory Seed had a great cover; it was designed in-house by the Orbit team. By a rather strange quirk of fate, Pete Crowther was the man who copy-edited it for Tim Holman, who was then 'second in command' at Orbit. I saw Pete at alt.fiction last year and he remembered the book well...

Can't ask for more than that!

Flowercrash was the third in the MS sequence, if you did read the books and wondered what happened after Glass.
