July 2015 Flash Fiction contest: Doors

Not going to make this one I'm afraid. I got a really great start which took me into the middle of the story and I just could not get to the end from there. It's cool though - was happy to get something out of my head and onto paper, so to speak. Hope to see you in August and I will try to read the entries.

Still working on mine. Do we have until the end of tomorrow to submit?

Im 25% thru. We will see if i kan make it.

I'm about to get on a plane and I don't know what my Internet situation will be upon arrival. Would someone else please be willing to set up the vote? Sorry!!!

I volunteer somebody else too since I also don't have a clue what to do... Maybe it can be between Nila and Bodhi. Last one to finish is the rotten egg who has to post the voting thread, I mean.

But I had a thought...@N. E. White and @KatG... do you think either of you could talk to The site owner about putting a clock with the time and date in California on the Writing Forum Mainpage. I never remember when the deadlines actually are that I'm supposed to be writing or voting before... Now that there are deadlines happening all over the place more people than usual may begin to lose track....

I don't know how difficult this would be to do. Hopefully it's not all that difficult

I'm not going to make it. Darn it. Oh well, the idea in my head will remain perfect (instead of transforming into a mangled cat once I write it down!).

In regards to the time...don't all computers have the time/date on the bottom of the screen?

Regardless, the site "originates" from Norway. If any time/date is gonna be posted in the forum, that's what time zone we would use.

Since the site is worldwide, the exact timing is always an issue. Sometimes, if a contest organizer wants to, they can specify the timezone for submission dates, but it is not necessary.

Norway...? I guess that explains the site owners name... I have a time date at the bottom of my screen but mine is different from yours and probably most other people's. Yep I've seen the question asked a heap of times by people who never seem to know quite when the contests close. I've even asked it myself and I was sure I was given California USA time when I did. One site time could save a lot of confusion, is all.

In before the bell, here's mine:

The Aurelian

It's been a horrid month so this is pretty much a first draft from tonight to hit the deadline. Sorry about the inevitable typos, missing words, bad grammar, punctuation....

I don't think we can change the time zone that runs the site, which is in Europe. But I'll check if there's some sort of side box we could use. But that's only going to help out those on the West Coast of the Americas. What I would suggest is that you all have deadlines that are a range of days, like three, which should cover most time zones, and then a warning post be put up in the thread that the voting is about to close. But we'll see what we can do.

Update: Actually, I think Nila already fixed this?

I kinda want to enter. I'm hoping this soup gives me the energy I need.

How many hours do we got, Captain Laidlow?

Nolthing's changed on my screen. where do I find it?

PS.Go @Bodhi . Although maybe complicated colourful formatting should be secondary to the writing. This contest aint for sheep stations or a new iron lung, neither....

I like sheep. What are you suggesting, I can finally breathe again after this contest is over?

It's hard not to like sheep, Bodhi. They have those sexy eyes and legs that go all the way up to heaven, Whenever I can't breathe I just close my eyes and think of all the magical nights I've spent with sheepz.

Sheep are the only reason i'd visit New Zealand. Well, maybe the Maori too.

I'm a bit rusty and this story stuff is harder than I remember. Remember,,, remember,,, gotta practice.
