.....ah! Weather Maps!
I have a story that may fit here but I've misplaced the text. I can put up a link to the narrated version if that's not too bizarre?

We do encourage everyone to write new stories for the contests. The goal for many is to get published and the contests provide a fun way to add to our body of work and get feedback. If your story is already published, that puts you at a strong advantage as most of us are still working towards that. If you have a audio story of an unpublished story and would like feedback on it before submitting it somewhere, we do have a workshop thread. I don't think anyone has ever put up such a story format before but you'd probably get some takers. I'd be willing to give it a listen just for the novelty.![]()
Slight change of subject, but has anyone had any luck with the previous contest's entries? I foolishly sent mine to Clarkesworld but it was hastily rejected; will try somewhere a little more low-key next![]()
Welcome to the rejection club. (check out the write one sub one thread).
One of my entries from last year is at market number 11, currently, and a revised version of my Mar/Apr story is out at market number 4....Slight change of subject, but has anyone had any luck with the previous contest's entries? Sounds like a plan to me. Go for it!I'm thinking of maybe slaying two seagulls with one story here, and scribbling up something to submit to both this and the anthology thing simultaneously.
My writing buddy is like that. For the past 7 years, he has emailed me excellent story ideas about once a month, sometimes more. He never writes them. Like you, once it is out of his system, it's done.I've found that if I ever reveal that much about a story I intend to write, I can never write it.
If I don't have that end point, it turns into the NEVER ENDING STORY.

I'm an outliner. I outline everything. Sometimes all the way down to the scene (like @RedMage), but more often all I do is an overall story arc and then a scene list and go from there. But before I write a story, I definitely have to have an end point in mind that I want my characters to arrive at. If I don't have that end point, it turns into the NEVER ENDING STORY.
I've heard of that but haven't actually tried it...maybe with this one...hmmm...I think I will! I'll report back after the end of August.I assume you know about John Irving, he says he writes his novels backwards from the final line, the final scene....chapter by chapter...
