Last Movie You Watched (2017)

Nice to read a positive review of this. All the others I've read have really taken it apart....

Does there have to be a valid sensible reason for a change in skin colour? I think the most important thing is the actor has a head, two arms, two legs, a brain, acting chops, some charisma, etc.. Unless it was essential to the books Roland is caucasian, I can't see why it matters.
Yes because this doesn't have that whole thing of Doctor Strange movie the ancient 1 a asian stereotype.

Either depict the characters right or don't depict them at all.
In the awful Captain America movie the Red Skull is not a Nazi he's a Italian Facist.

These are inexcusable changes and the easiest to get right.
From what I see of the books he is a Undeniable white man and if I recall right inspired by the characters that Clint Eastwood plays including for the Western movies.

I hate skin color and even hair color changes! But I also liked The Dark Tower and the way Idris Elba acted, even watched another movie with him. But most recently I watched Annabelle: Creation, excellent stuff for horror fans. The genre truly enjoys a revival.

I see also that for Spider Man Homecoming Herman Schultz aka The Shocker was changed to a black man.
Can't complain that likely Shocker a underrated super villain will likely be shown more in the 2nd movie and other sequels.
He is a safecracker that's challenging, recognized he needed a protection suit after creating the gauntlets in a Freakin Prison which is also a hard task.
The guy is way to damn smart to be working for other Super Villains so beyond embarrassing that Marvel hasn't done him justice in the mainstream continuity in more than 3 decades.

I even forgot that there was a second shocker, after Vulture slayed the first one...

Spiderman: Homecoming. Pretty good overall, too much Tony Stark for my tastes though.

So, if he's based on a hard-boiled male pig, shouldn't he be a very hard pink?

I enjoyed the new Spidey a lot, Vince. For me it was interesting to see Tony as a mentor figure.
Recently, because of the success of Wolf Warriors 2 in China, I watched the first one and was very pleasantly surprised. Good old school action with touch cool heroes - miss this stuff from the 80s!

Plankton (aka Creatures from the Abyss) Italian horror crap that made Troll 2 look well made. Five 'teenagers' find a seemingly abandoned boat in the middle of the ocean and the local fish - which have been lunching on radioactive plankton and thus mutated into hyper-sexual flying fish with a taste for human flesh - eat them.

But not soon enough.

The gratuitous nude shower scene was a brief but welcome relief. (The actress's only screen credit. Presumably - given the rest of her performance - she went back to something a lot less intellectually challenging than standing still in a bikini and fondling her breasts in the shower.)

Av Demeisen, that's a hell of a triple bill. (I own them all) Astro Zombies is great! and contains the single most brilliant piece of microscope abuse in American cinema history

Atomic Blonde. Not a brilliant film by any means, but pretty good. It doesn't quite know what it wants to be. Not enough action to be an action film, and not smart enough to be a great thriller. It's one of those cases where the sum is less than its parts. Shame since it could have been truly great with a few changes.

'Either depict the characters right or don't depict them at all.'
Hear him!!
It's like those depictions of Jesus as an Aryan that were once so prevalent .

Tonight I watched David Lynch's Dune (for the umpteenth time) with Number One daughter (who was seeing it for the first time). Much hilarity was had.

I rewatched favorite 90s action flicks with Steven Seagal - "Hard to Kill" and "Marked for Death". Good stuff :D

Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Very fun and a worthy successor to the first film. I hope they can keep the quality of the next film just as high.

Back to School (1986). I saw this when it came out in the cinemas at the time and I have watched it repeatedly since. It's probably my favourite Rodney Dangerfield film and has so many great one liners. Plus it has Kurt Vonnegut.

Oh, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was a lot of fun!

I thought Back to School (1986) was fun back in the day. One to rewatch?
