Hi low people I'm new round these parts *eyes the crowd*

I did think about sliding into conversation via some of the other threads, but I thought what the hell and so I decided to post a new one instead. :D

Seeing as this is a fantasy forum I was wondering how many of you are lucid dreamers?

For those who don't know about lucid dreaming its definition would be any dream is which you become aware that you are actually having a dream.

What this actually means is whilst your body is naturally paraylised in sleep your mind becomes awake. Unable to gain any outside sensory input your brain recreates reality in your head. This is great for fantasy folk cause as you learn to master lucid dreaming you can create your own fantastic realities etc etc.

Mod edit - Pantalimon, I edited your other problem for you! Hobbit.

I have lucid dreams from time to time. It usually happens when I am in great peril in my dream. I sometimes realize I am dreaming, and am then able to create forcefields for myself, fly, run incredibly fast, or walk through walls. It is a wonderful, vivid experience.

Cool, you can lucid dream when you want with practice. http://mysite.freeserve.com/LucidCrossroads/Lucidhomepage.htm this site I've done work on provides a place in dream time where lucid dreamers can meet up. (if you belive in that sort of thing ;) )

Yeah I do this all the time depending on how tired I am . I diddn't know there was a name for it , I have some really high adrenalin dreams (and some very naughty ones)

I don't believe in astro travel , however I might see you there oneday!(night) :)

I am lucid dreaming right now!!!!
Oh no if your lucid dreaming that means I am too cause I'm reading your post! and I thought I was awake, dam I'll have to do all my work, again!

Its not nessesary to belive in astral projection etc to have a shared dream or shared lucid dream, different animals.

I would really love to learn to lucid dream at will. Ah yes, me and Lucy Liu every night.

I have lucid dreams all the time (which means, I think, that I don't actually get much sleep at night :( ).

In my dreams, I'm always trying to save the world. I go to people, tell them to run or fight or whatever--and no one ever believes a word I say. Last night, these little bratty kids threw rocks at me. (I thought the world would end if everyone stoned each other). One of them hit me in the mouth and I thought that my tooth came out. I remember thinking that I was pretty awake and felt with my tongue to see if my tooth was gone. I was surprised, this morning, to discover its presence. (One of the kids hit me in the bum, too, and it smarts a bit)

I usually don't have many dreams (at least that I can remember), but when I do they are good.

A meeting place, eh. Sounds like Telaronrhiod in WOT. That would be pretty cool.

I've have had a lot of lucid dreams and once the realisation of I'm in a dream hits me, I strart looking around the dreamworld in fine detail, marvelling at how realistic it is.
Then I generally take "Neo-like" control and have a pretty good time in them, flying around, walking through solid objects and generally being invincible.
At this point whatever you think becomes real, as the merest suggestion will materialise in you dreamscape.
It's great for exercising the muscles of your imagination.
:)

Sorry about my ignorance but whats Telaronrhiod?

It shouldn't effect your sleep as lucids occur in natural REM sleep and not deep sleep, maybe if you wake after your lucids you might feel more tired in the morning or something?

Dream characters can be a bit uncommunicative thats cause its hard for your brain to process language in a lucid dream.

I've have had a lot of lucid dreams
Try and reach the Crossroads for a look around, go through any dorr in your lucid dream with the intention of getting there. The receptionists can organise any lucid dream challenge you want when you get there.

Telaronrhiod (World Of Dreams) is from Robert Jordan's Wheel Of Time series. Various characters are able to enter this place, byt using te'rangreal (magically imbued devices) where they either have little control or lots of control, whihc can be learned, usually you can tell by whether their clothing changes with their thoughts. They meet up and chat. Animals are also there too, but it is a dangerous place, if you die there, you don't wake up.

I'll have to find out how Jordan came up with this.

Not sure about lucid dreaming, but I have a tendency to slip into the world of fantasy while completely wide awake. Sometimes, it becomes quite odd as I am suddenly struck with the realisation that I am neither here nor there (ie:- not in reality, not in fantasy, but somewhere right in between).

This tends to happen when I am dead bored during lectures or any tedious activities. I am usually surprised to find out that I have either finished the work etc.. after snapping out of this pleasent apoplexy. Hehe, during my final statistics exam in high school, I went into one of this states, and I snap out of it like an hour later, with all the solutions done. What is even funnier is that nationally, I got 88 percent!!

Does anyone else have lucid dreams about Salma Hayek? Like that scene from the movie "from dusk till dawn" where she's stripping in the shady border bar.... and then she puts her foot in that guys mouth... and starts to pour beer down her body... and then.....OH..... I gotta go!

Kassimir is starting to sound like "Chef" from South Park.
I heard that Barry White was one of the first choices for Chef by Parker and Stone.

Barry White is my first choice for the voice of just about anything. Just think of any phrase.... now think of how much better it would sound if Barry white said it.

example... "Heebie Jeebies"

pardon my spam

LOL... Well done Funk, you made me laugh.

Alright, let's see who can come up with a phrase that even the Love Walrus can't make cool...

How about...

"Cough please..."

*shudder*

Well, Pantalimon, I'm hoping you were unclear, otherwise I have some serious thinking and re-evuluating to do...

I've been dreaming my life away... I can't explain it really, it's complicated and a little frightening... sometimes i have such said dreams in sequnce that have lead to some nasty things. And yet soemtimes so wonderful, I indulge, shun sun, deny life and eat dream. Am I nuts? I can't tell the difference between real, fake, sleep and awake? Or is that because there is no difference...

if only we could harness to power and potential of our minds...

Yes your nuts ;) but thats a good thing, being normal is so dull :)

Are you saying your a natural lucid dreamer? someone who's been lucid dreaming all their life?

Yes... I was a very disturbed child. I had terrifying dreams, in which I knew I was dreaming and could never escape. My parents thought I was psychotic because around 3 years old I started having ridiculously vivid, complex, and frightening dreams dealing with spiritual realms and the demons between them... I would scream for the sprits to leave me alone until I'd make myself sick... As I child I hated the night, but ironically now it's one of my favourite things, and beyond that I fear nothing.

I don't know... maybe I should ahve listened to my mom and not ate chocolate at bed time. :D
