May 2015 Motivation Thread

Okay, half way there and I have a positive report!

2) Finish current Clockwork Canada story and get it submitted.

First draft complete at 7700 words (lol.)

4) Write 5000 words of fiction.

I'm at 6566 already! This story is completely bloated, though. I'd like to bring it down to around 6000 words if I can - and editor has stated a preference for 5k. So I'll be hacking off 1k-2700 words. :/ Not exactly "progress", that, but definitely part of the process...

I'm glad all three of us managed to finish a story. Will you be "hacking away" in order to submit today as well.

Sort of! The editor has now given me until the 17th to submit ("in case you need the weekend to write"), so I'm going to smooth out this draft, sent it to my betas, then do a full revision by Sunday.

Should be interesting, considering I'm getting on a plane and taking my kids to England tomorrow! We won't even really get to our destination until Sunday. Jet lag revisions, woo!

That sounds brutal but I'm happy for you. After you get the story submitted you can enjoy your family time without worry.

Have fun in England, Charlotte! And good luck with the revisions. You can do it.

By the way, I wrote a bit this week. Not much, but a bit. :)

@CharlotteAshley -- wow! What are you going to England for. It sounds exciting!

Vacation with the kids! My parents felt sorry for us, train wreck that our home life has been lately, and bought us tickets to come stay with them in Newcastle for ten days. I'm promised 2 "uninterrupted days" for writing! Grandparent daycare is the best, even if I'm only getting it because my personal life is so gawd-awful these days.

Well, have fun on your vacation and good luck with the writing. Hopefully this trip will act as a reset button for you and the family.

Obviously

Everyone knows guys like chocolate and gals like to go out for drinks.
I'm a smart cookie, I had a glass of local Merlot with a slice of five layer chocolate cake. Yummy.
