My progress has stalled over the weekend, but I'm hoping to get a good start on episode six of Ash & Flame this week. I'm about 2k words into the last episode, and I'm anxious to get it done. I've spent the past few months on this, and it's time for something new!

Best of luck to those that have sent in submissions! I haven't written a short story in quite some time, and I think I've finally discovered that it's probably not my strong suit. :)

My writing was put largely on hold last week as I prepared to move. I'm still preparing with the last few boxes to be packed tonight and tomorrow night, then it will be moving time later this week.
 
Anyway, I managed to cut my story for Clockwork Canada down to just under 7k words, and it has been submitted. Off you go, little story. Godspeed.

I'm on "vacation" right now, but I'm promised a couple writing days. I'd rather not spend them revising February's story, like I planned. I want to write from scratch - but what? Hoping the North Sea will inspire me.
 
Meh, not much of a week..... two new flash fictions, one truly sucks and the other one might be passable....I like it at least....tried to do a bit of 're-calibration' on my drivers by revisiting/listing/thinking about some of my favorite stories (flash, short, and even novels) and why I like them.

Worked on a bit of editing of existing stories, still not necessarily satisfied they are finished.

And look out world!!! I even picked up the 'Novel idea/concept' that's been kicking around for a couple of years now and that I've partially worked on/out, have an outline and have partially written. I added a whole 100 words to it. LOL!

I'm considering just focusing on that novel for a while, but....who knows, I'm a slave to my muse. Another thought was to work out that idea and get a complete story from it and see how it sits. I'm pretty convinced it is, or can be a novel-length idea but could potentially be told in short-form as well..

Had one story rejected - shipped it out to the next on the list.

My submissions I'd hoped to do this month are falling behind significantly, looked at pieces and markets this morning and walked away empty handed. :(

I feel that way sometimes, too. There are times I put the shackles on my muse instead, but not often.

Yeah, that's difficult. Hang in there! You'll find somewhere to send those stories.

I didn't get a chance to write as much as I wanted on Sunday, but I got a scene out that I am fairly happy with. Now...on to the next! :)
 
Moving was a success! We did it on a week night, so there are a few items left at my old place but all the truly big, heavy stuff is moved. Whew! Big relief. Now for some shut eye and then to move the rest this weekend.
 
With my flash piece in I've met two of my goals for the month. I'm happy about that but now I'm back to writing, I've narrowed my options to three. They all have issues.

I have nearly 1000 words and most of an outline towards my short story entry but it seems stalled.
I have nearly 1500 words and most of an outline towards my first ever ghost story but I want to have the ghost as my POV character but the woman being haunted as my protagonist. I'm not sure I can pull that off. The only example I can think of off hand is the Sherlock Holmes stories. Does anyone know of any others, preferably short stories, genre or not?
Lastly, I have a little over 6500 jumbled words and assorted scenes with no hint of an outline towards a short story for Michael's contest. Grrr!

I'm sitting here wondering if my writing will ever be linear. Will there ever come a day when I can move, in a straight forward manner, from idea to outline to draft to completion? Does anyone else's brain do this to them?
