haha No, just a dreamer. It is an old nickname from jr. high when my friends and I became obsessed with this one musical....My favorite character was from Brooklyn. Though I dream of walking across the Brooklyn bridge some day I fear that won't happen anytime soon. Incidentally, it is what got me into writing.

Finished up editing my Flash for this months contest and posted.
Edited (again) a couple of Flash pieces this morning....one off toFFO the other one off to my files as I'm not seeing any really appropriate market despite my thinking it's a good piece. (it may be too much prose poetry and not enough flash fiction :D )

Good grief @Facing...Christina's going CRAZY with her writing! Way to hustle!
Sorry about all the updates in MyWriteClub. I'm adding all my unfinished projects in the hope that seeing them listed will motivate me to finish them.

It's time to take my writing more seriously which means I need a body of work to submit. I currently have seven stories out, which is a record for me, but I think I can do better.

Yep. Gotta keep 'em circulating :)

Anyone having trouble posting threads? I can't post my story due to an internal error. I already emailed the webmaster: webmaster [at] sffworld [dot] com. Won't work on my PC or tablet...

Hi everybody... PaxNoctis

I am new to this sffworld site, and this forum

I am working on only one project. I thought I had finished it, at one point, but after letting an editor read it I decided to rewrite my story, so this would be my 5th rewrite. I am on the 36th chapter of the rewrite. My story is dark, but so am, I enjoy sitting down and going to work.

I was thinking about self publishing, but I know very little about self publishing business, but I think I might have to learn, because as I am doing more research I am finding out that few writers find literary agents unless you know someone, and I know no one, so self publishing here I come.

Well, no new news, but recent critiques have helped me realize something that is a problem for me: profanity. I think I may use too much. So, I went through two of my most recent books and looked at frequency.

Numbers are the frequency of curse words

BOOK ONE (featuring primarily special operations soldiers)
F-words: 1/170 words
S-words: 1/1,487 words
Overall: 1 out of 141 words is a curse word (includes all others)

BOOK TWO (Sevorian: The critiques of which caused me to examine this)
F-words: 1/553 words
S-words: 1/1,802 words
Overall: 1 out of 351 words is a curse word (includes all the others)

Though interestingly, the rates were noticeably higher in the chapters I sent for critique (which were the first ones)...I think the previous book's almost deliberately profane delivery had an effect on my early writing.

So, that's what I've done. Conducted some analysis...so that's something?

Done with the second draft of The Wastes and ready for critiques (any takers?). Next up: Outline for Book Two: The Outside so I can do Camp Nano.

That's probably still not as many as me. My editor actually made me put more *in*...!

Immortelle is finally complete, at just over 110 000 words. Now to go back and clean up all inconsistencies and catch the typos.

And try to establish whether a Mars dust storm does in fact supply sufficient protection against a large solar flare, and at what temperature a tantalum-tungsten alloy corrodes if the temperature of the liquid lithium-6 passing through it is too high.

Oh yes, and whether the contact between 100 000 tons of antimatter and an asteroid 20 miles wide near Mars is sufficient to destroy the asteroid without showering the Earth with too much harmful Gamma radiation. You can't google everything...
