My novel, Hand of Glory is now in the safe hands of Penmore Press and I quote:

"Penmore Press has acquired a Dark Fantasy novel, "The Hand of Glory" from author Susan Boulton -- a bone chilling tale set early 1900's England. Senior editor Michael James gave up a night of sleep reading it"

I got an honourable mention in Locus this month for being runner up in the April bestsellers list!

Congratulations to both of you. Thanks for keeping hopes alive, not only for yourselves but for the rest of us.

Anyone have experience with Flash Fiction Magazine? I submitted a story that was accepted for publication ("Homecoming"), but I don't really know anything about them, or if it's a good market for something like that. Any thoughts? Feedback? Thanks!!

Woo-Hoo! Congrats! Was it a story from here?

I've sent them a few things...if it's this one. Best I can tell they are a good, reputable market. They are on my flash submission-list of markets.

Thanks! This is all relatively new to me, so I wasn't sure if they were a legit publication source (particularly because they don't pay ANYTHING for stories)...but I don't want to reject something that could be a benefit to me in the long run!

Unfortunately very few (if any) of the flash/micro markets pay anything. :( (there is of course Daily SF and Flash Fiction Online which are pro-level payment) But at least it is something you can list on you writer's bio etc. etc. etc.

BTW I just read the most recent story there - Gaming for Girls. Loved it!

and ya got me in a 'marketing frame of mind' and I sent one off (Mother's Voice) just now...

Well end of the month coming looks like I'll end it with having written

4 Flash pieces and 1 poem
including the story I finalized today for the short story contest.

6 submissions
4 rejections
2 still out

1 publication in Microfiction Monday Magazine - Change in My Pocket

Well, on the back of my London Book Fair trip, I sent a query letter and synopsis to one of the top New York Agent's. They came back to me last night and said they're interested in reading a sample of my work!

I know it's still incredibly likely to end in a rejection, but I'm overwhelmed and incredibly happy to get even this far with the Agency
