Did another 750 words on the amnesiac yesterday. I'm starting to think this could be a two-novella story -- i.e., in two parts -- that I could fix up and sell as a novel.

And 1150 words today. I can see this plot sequence wrapping up at about 40,000 words. Then I'll do a second movement of about the same length and together with some kind of coda they'll make a novel.

doing a lot of reading/studying of Jack Gilbert a poet I was familiar with and read his "The Great Fires" some years back. I acquired and read his "Collected Poems" over the last couple of weeks and am very impressed. He's a quite irreverent poet the likes of Bukowski but in a very literary manner.

2 - (self) publications: 1 traditional poetry collection - The Consequences of Long Term Furniture Ownership and 1 prose poetry collection (third in a series) - Prosthetic Amalgams III check them out at amazon or a few of the poems on my blog. Also a number of the Prose Poems were contest entries here (I know, I know @Facing ...you want a list. :) )

Otherwise doing some evaluating/soul-searching as far as direction etc.
Have a Great August Everyone!!

Another 1300 words on the amnesiac, in which we learn who has been trying to have him killed, in order to prevent some dark secret from emerging from the past. But we don't know what the secret is. Intriguing, isn't it. Meanwhile I'm starting to build a backstory that will involve magic and a dark cabal of thaumaturges in a town called Olliphract.

Hey! Good for You!!

I'm wondering if "Prose Poems" were covered in the class?

They were briefly mentioned but there wasn't a long time spent on any particular 'form'. Week one was about 'discovering' poetry, whether it can be taught, how to make a 'found poem'. Week two was about crafting, whether it needs to rhyme, some on form, metre, experimenting. Week three was about polishing up a poem we had written, editing it, giving and getting feedback. So for an established poet like yourself it probably wouldn't offer much, but to me it was really interesting.

Thanks. Always curious. Much differences of opinion on Prose Poetry. :) I just do what the squirrels tell me to. LOL!

Another 1300 words -- seems a comfortable length for a day's work -- on the amnesia novel(la). About to wrap up the opening plot sequence with a partial reveal (not quite sure what it is yet; find out tomorrow). Then on to the next movement.

My sense of the thing so far is it's the kind of story that will appeal to readers who like my stuff. And I'm having a good time writing it.

Removed two chapters and I just recierec four chapters back from two betas. So far they are liking it with one complaint about me not going in depth in the first chapter with the alien technology and what not. So I'm heading back over it to see what I can do to fix that.

Also, did a new poem the past week called "Plight of the Princess", which is at its heart about letting go of your ego and enjoying the free and happier moments of life.

Another thousand words on the amnesiac. Now we're off into the forest haunted by reivers and spoliators (love that word) to find a man who used to be his orderly, back when he was an officer in a mercenary company. Good fun.

Another day, another thousand words. My hero had a plan, but he didn't know about the roaming pack of night-time guard dogs. Now men with torches are coming to capture him.
