About eight hundred words yesterday, and 1350 today. Hero's learned some uncomfortable truths (if they are truths) about himself and gone back to the town where his benefactor (if he is his benefactor) lives. Weird stuff about to happen.

In other news, I've asked a friend's agent to take a look at a couple of my books that I think could do better with NYC representation. We'll see.

I've been writing 1066: Year of the Comet (I'm always in the market for a catchier title))since January and have 135,000 words of a projected 180,000. I have come to truly despise the 11th Century in Europe.

And, spurred by necessity, I've begun compiling Old Carl's New Old Norse Glossary. I am not qualified to do this, but I need it and have yet to find an adequate ON dictionary, e.g., one that lists all the word forms( the various declensions of each noun, conjugations of the verbs...)

Only 650 words on Farouche the amnesiac today, but a crucial little scene that sets the stage for a big surprise I'm planning for later, now that I know what the story's about. This is the point when it gets to be fun.

Another thousand words in which the amnesiac learned something that everybody knows -- why doesn't he? -- and also that his supposed benefactor lied to him. Plot thickening, tension rising, something big on the horizon.

hi friends! It's been a while! I disappeared from writing for a bit because I was working on my PhD, which will, I hope, be finished very soon. But I'm back in the game and just sold to Strange Horizons, which is a super exciting bucket list sale for me :D

Currently working my way through a pile of old (ie some drawn up to two years ago) strips getting them ready for printing up a new paper comic, Tales of the Unaccepted #1. I'm cringing at the awfulness of some of my drawing. Panels are getting redone. Speech bubbles rebalanced. Some serious chunks of black whacked into bland pages.

And some serious swearing at my earlier self for not labelling the layers.
Opening Photoshop files with anywhere from 25 - 40 layers with none of them labelled is not fun.

Back from WorldCon and back to work on the amnesiac. Only 500 words today, setting up for an unexpected explosion of plot which will wrap up the first half of the story and leave my hero a bitter quest for the second.

Added another 300 words today to a short story I am working on. Total now about 4350 words. I have two scenes to write and a third to read over and expand. Then it will need a complete read through and edit. Very pleased with this, but I have a deadline to meet, which is the end of next week, so I need to do get going.

Another 800 words on the amnesiac, in which his benefactor's wife tells him the big dark secret that everybody in town knows but nobody talks about. Which sets us up for an explosive finale. Which then sets up for the second novella, a quest into darkness.

I'm doing the Final Final Final (?) proof of 'Conspiracies and Rooks' (#8).
'The Legal Talent' is finally out with a reader. I doubt it will be polished before 2019, but you never know.
I'm wondering will Brexit result in any rewrite of 'Goths and Rooks' (#12), set in Tewkesbury, Hungary, Austria and Kosice, Slovakia. Some references to UK Border control/Immigration Centres, Canadian and Irish Citizenships.
Occasionally I'm adding a few hundred words to 'Carmán's Legacy', book #14 in the Celtic Otherworld. I can't imagine a 15th, but the original concept was four (the four Treasures of the Tuath Dé).

Back to work on the second novella in the amnesiac novel, with 1600 words, now from a new POV character, the sidekick who is more than he seems. And first mention of demons. I do love to work with demons.

Did almost 1900 words on "Memory," starting to unravel what has been done to the amnesiac and why. Then the question will be "who" followed by "so what are you going to do about it?"
