I have just started to read an e-Zine novel called 'Landmoor'... and it is very impressive! To get a copy of this briliant serial go to Deep Magic

They are looking for a publisher to release it in printed fromat as well... I would put my hand in my pocket for this.

Just started Hobb's first Farseer book - Assassin's Something

Has pulled me straight in......we'll see if i can actually stick at this one....have put SOOO many books down, lately!

I've just finished Dark Glory War by Michael A. Stackpole. This is the second time I have read this novel. It's not to often nowadays that I eagerly await the second installment of a series. Fortress Draconis is the second of the series, albeit 20 years or so have passed in the story. Looking forward to sitting down and enjoying it.


I know I already posted this in the November read thread, but I expect that thread to disappear into the nether regions of the cyber abyss. Or at least be moved over to the recommendation thread.

Currently reading A Storm of Swords and when done with that I will read The Neverending Story, which seems to be really good. And then some others that aren't fantasy.

I just read Conflict of Honors, the first Liaden book by Sharon Lee et. al.
This is scifi but could be considered fantasy for the same reason that Dune could (maybe more so).
My comment is - taste great but less filling.

Maybe it's me but I would someday like to read a well thought out revenge story that does not depend on just exposing the "bad guy's" former and current misdeeds (Conflict of Honors, Feist's Daughter of Empire, Count of Monte Cristo).
Daughter, the way I remember it, was more dumb luck than political calculation.
I can't remember if my complaint about the Count was based on the movie or the book which I remember being different.

I'm in the middle of Perdido Street Station, which is becoming quite interesting. Then I've also just got Kushiel's Chosen, so I am really looking forward to reading it. Then I have also the Fifth Sorceress by Robern Newcomb lying on my table. Why do I feel I'm gonna have a great month reading?

I am currently working on "His dark materials" triology of which I have just started the Amber Spyglass.

Then I will move onto Perdido street station by Mieville, and Coldheart Canyon by Clive Barker. I always work through two books at once.

Haven't read much fantasy lately. A few days ago I started Stephen King's The Stand, which is an extremely long book, so considering what a busy month December is I guess that's all I'll have time to read.

If I get some "book money" for Christmas I'll probably check out something either by Robin Hobb or Micheal Stackpole, haven't decided which.

Strangely lost a lot of interest during the whole 'cable-laying' saga when he went on and on about placing the cables, etc - but he's pulling it around again thankfully...

I just started the 3rd book of Farseer Trilogy Assassin's Quest I've heard from many that I won't like the ending and the third book is dull and disappointing. I am hoping that I like it anyway. I hope to finish it in a couple of weeks and then start either The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King or Three Hearts and Three Lions. I plan to make a dent in my reading pile instead of adding to it but I also have a lot of book requests on my Christmas wish list.

Hrm I have only heard bad things about that book so your month might not be that great.

Currently reading "The Wine Dark Sea" by Patrick O'Brian. Next is either "The Isle of Battle" by Russell or "Book of the New Sun" by that wolfy guy.

Well, I didn't hear much about Fifth Sorceress at all, just picked it up to read some new authors. The great part referres more to the Kushiel's Chosen. That's where I place my hopes

I've read the articles in the latest issue of Realms of Fantasy which came last week. I also read the 2nd Harry Potter yesterday. I've also been working on the new Robert McCammon book, Speaks the Nightbird. I'm thinking Cryptonomicon and Dune are next on the stack, but that could change five minutes from now.

Currently reading Deadhouse Gates by Erikson, not bad at all.

Next, awaiting "To ride Hell's Chasm" by Janny Wurts (Standalone novel) to be released any time now.

Next, i won an Juliett Mckenna novel, "Thief's Gamle" through orbitbooks e-mail competition. Will read it.

Then, probably "Memories of Ice" by Erikson.

Christmas coming up, lots of reading space

I'm about 1/2 way through Elminster in Hell and thinking, why the &$^#* didn't the author just make it a bunch of short stories instead of the annoying broken story that he wrote ? I'll be glad once I'm through this 400 page root canal. The story might have been entertaining if the delivery wasn't so horrid.

Just finished "I, Claudius" by Robert Graves, and now starting "Belisarius".

Not exactly general fantasy, but we may be able to squeeze the definition inclusively!
