I feel for you British lefties. At least here a vote for the socialists means a tangible presence in parliament (both houses!).
Good blog post, Stephen.Thoughts on revolution, with reference to China Mieville's new book.
The Russian Revolution was a revolution only in name. True revolution can only come from within. Change follows as a consequence. Social structures in Russia – the autocracy of the Tsars, the authoritarianism of Communism and then Stalinism, the death-dealing stranglehold of Putin – are all identical systems, each one a manifestation of a still deeper force in society, of its most fundamental level. If and when such manifestations fade away we’ll have humane societies – should we survive as a species that long. But we won’t have them before then. Not even in Russia.
I blogged about being Northern Irish, the struggle to know where to belong and how this touches all my work -but especially the series that was never about NI. Go figure![]()

I'm afraid I can't take the credit for the fab Goblin post - that was written by the Goblin princess @Teresa EdgertonLoved your article "A NATURAL HISTORY OF GOBLINS".Back in 2003 I wrote huge Forgotten Realms fanfic about a goblin in the drow society.
Posted one of my short stories in English on my website. Sadly I can’t force myself to start a blog in English. I’m afraid my text are too unrefined.
What do you thing about blogs by foreigners. When you read them do you get annoyed by mistakes or inapt style of writing?
