All the Raffalon stories for 99 cents!

My collection of the 9 TALES OF RAFFALON is now available at my webstore for the introductory price of 99 cents. It comes in either mobi or epub formats.

It includes the seven stories that have run in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, plus “Inn of the Seven Blessings” that first appeared in the anthology, ROGUES, plus “Sternutative Sortilege,” an original novelette that’s only in the collection.

I’m offering it at a low price exclusively through the Archonate Bookstore in the hope of building more traffic to my webstore. After the introductory period, I’ll raise the ebook price to my normal $3.99 and I’ll put out a POD paperback via CreateSpace for $12.99.

If you’re picking up a copy, please take a moment to sign up for my newsletter. There’s a form at the top of the webstore page.

I've done another interview with Stephen Mazur on the Fantasy & Science Fiction blog. It's about my new series character Baldemar, who appears in "The Prognosticant," a second story in the current issue. It also inspired the majorly skookum cover art.

Thoughts on revolution, with reference to China Mieville's new book.
Good blog post, Stephen.

Earlier this month I cancelled my pre-order of Miéville's book to await more reader feedback. The anticipation of any admiration for any aspect of the Bolshevik power grab always makes me feel uncomfortable. This is perhaps partly due to my own ignorance of the history of the Russian revolution. I read Orlando Figes' A People's Tragedy twice and that's it. With so many books written about that period, I still think it's not so easy to know what else to read.

With the little I do know I agree with your conclusion:
The Russian Revolution was a revolution only in name. True revolution can only come from within. Change follows as a consequence. Social structures in Russia – the autocracy of the Tsars, the authoritarianism of Communism and then Stalinism, the death-dealing stranglehold of Putin – are all identical systems, each one a manifestation of a still deeper force in society, of its most fundamental level. If and when such manifestations fade away we’ll have humane societies – should we survive as a species that long. But we won’t have them before then. Not even in Russia.

I blogged about being Northern Irish, the struggle to know where to belong and how this touches all my work -but especially the series that was never about NI. Go figure ;) :D

Loved your article "A NATURAL HISTORY OF GOBLINS".Back in 2003 I wrote huge Forgotten Realms fanfic about a goblin in the drow society.

Posted one of my short stories in English on my website. Sadly I can’t force myself to start a blog in English. I’m afraid my text are too unrefined.

What do you thing about blogs by foreigners. When you read them do you get annoyed by mistakes or inapt style of writing?

I'm afraid I can't take the credit for the fab Goblin post - that was written by the Goblin princess @Teresa Edgerton :)

As to the other - I think blogs are more relaxed than other forms of writing and if you can engage with people who like your voice the technical aspects need not be a barrier. :)
