New Adventure!
prixaurorawards.ca
Mr. Hughes,A reminder: my Dying Earth fantasy novel, A God in Chains (30 five-star reviews on Amazon!) is being offered as a 99-cent ebook through a Bookbub promotion wherever ebooks are sold. The promotion doesn’t apply to the US, but Amazon.com has price-matched anyway.
But the cheapie deal ends today, so get ‘em while they’re hot.

If we we're all living in the story, what does that say about the author?I posted a mini-blog response to an interesting article by Robert Sawyer. The article talks about how we're all living in a SF story these days.

Well, the story isn't finished yet. There will be an end, probably a good one, though there will have to be a sequel called "Aftermath." Meanwhile, if this were a novel, there is certainly a lot of drama, like any disaster story. There are heroes making science progress and medical staff saving lives, bad guys getting in the way of solving this, human tragedy. It's true there are too many characters to try to follow. A real author would pick a few and follow them with their personal stories in all this. A doctor hero, a victim, a political leader or few.If we we're all living in the story, what does that say about the author?
It's hard to write a peace story that isn't dull. A plot needs a conflict. A conflict needs a fight. Dull stories don't survive.This blog entry, about folktales, is not SF/F related, so caveat lector;
I vent about how our heritage of folk stories has LET ME DOWN, man:
