Song Of The Day

The Grateful Dead, Live Dead, St. Stephen.

This line alone makes the song a great one:

Lady finger, dipped in moonlight, writing "What
for?" across the morning sky.

But it's one of the best live songs of all time, IMHO. I was present for one of the classic recordings of it.

Jesse Malin from his new album Glitter In The Gutter: Broken Radio with Bruce Springsteen in the background.

Declan O'Rourke - We didn't mean to go to sea

One of the most incredible, love song/sea shanty tunes I have ever head... incredible Irish singer songwriter with a fantastic album.

Check it out HERE...

Nice choice Justin. Never heard him before.

Sounds conspicuously like Jackson Browne. That's a good thing for me.

He does a wonderful acappella song at the end of the album called Marrying the Sea (he has a bit of a sea fetish!) where he basically asks the ocean to marry him. The ocean refuses, being much older and of course, having heard promises of undying love from sailors, seamen and fishermen for centuries... but he doesn't give up and returns night after night to walk along her shores.

Beautiful song and is backed simply by the sound of the ocean waves and no instrumentation.

If you like Declan, Gary, you will definitely like my friend, Kevin Pallot... he has a celtic feel to his songwriting and the fiddle player definitely adds a celtic touch.

The Right Way - Kevin Pallot & The Pinnacles

'...I know the right way to your soul, it's not through that letter,'

Rodeo Clowns - Jack Johnson & G Love from the Some Live Songs EP... features versions of Jack Johnson, Donovan Frankenreiter, G Love and ALO tunes... amazing.

Jeff Buckley - Forget Her off Grace Legacy Edition.

This tune was replaced by 'So Real' on the original version of Grace as Jeff felt it was too personal. It's a beautiful song and has caused some controversy amongst hardcore fans, some being critical of Jeff's estate (I.E. his mother) for deciding to put it on the legacy edition, which (they say) is against Jeff's wishes.

Personally, I was grateful for hearing such a wonderful track and I am often amazed at the arrogance of so-called fans, who criticize people who ACTUALLY KNOW THE ARTIST!

Julie Miller, I Still Cry from Broken Things.

A dear dear friend of mine died four years ago and this song became her epitaph for me. And it's so true. I do still cry when I think of her.

Been a while since I've come out to play. I'd like to start back with something special.

Poison Prince by Amy MacDonald. A new artist, she manages to cram so much feeling and character into her songs that I just can't stop listening. Plus she is an absolute babe...

Listen here.

Casta Diva by Phillipa Giordano

The ease with which this woman sings is amazing. It was also the song my wife walked down the aisle to, so it always evokes certain memories.
