[Hobbit]

Yes - if only to see which bits are retained in all of the movies/series!

It's been a LONG time since I've read it, but in my opinion it is one of the more accessible classics - more than Frankenstein or Jeckyll & Hyde, if I remember right. Been meaning to reread for a while, But I seem to remember it holding up pretty well.

I'm watching Dracula tonight. The third epsiode apparently caused a stir among viewers.

Just watched it and didn't like it as much - thought the first was great, the second slow to get going but improved towards the end, but the third was too much of a shift, and it ended up being a bit lacklustre

and such a big departure from the original by moving to the current era; it became something other than Dracula then.

Watching more European subtitled in english TV shows on https://mhzchoiceblog.com streaming channel. after Crime Scene Cleanup from Germany, Crime Scene Cleaner3 seasons this show from Switzerland in german is top of the current list.

I love being able to see this entertainment from all over europe....

I just wish I had done better at learning german in grade school, they were very narrow minded and thought that even though I could not spell in english. I had to spell things correctly in german....

I have retained only the essentials in other languages...

Count me in as one who enjoyed The Witcher. It had some problems, but I was thoroughly entertained. I'm currently watching The Expanse season 2. I've really enjoyed this so far.

In fairness to the show, the plot of the book for this season is a lot more meh with some overused trope elements including the needless bad guy that overreacts to everything. I haven't actually watched season 4 yet, because I don't see how it could be that great.

Watched the first episode of The Outsider - so far, very good. Though I remember reading the book and thinking the first part was one of the best detective thrillers I've read, but then it turned downhill after that - hopefully the series isn't the same.

Episode 3 of Doctor Who was disappointing after 1 and 2 were so good. They need to lighten off on the issues writing/after school specialisms.

Hard to see how the film could be improved upon. If this is HBO and sees Bong Joon-ho collaborate with Adam McKay will the series still be set in South Korea and Korean language? Bong Joon-ho says he had many more ideas he could not incorporate in the film, but the cat is already out of the bag as far as the basic plot and main twist is concerned. And will the film's actors return? Their performances were already perfect.

Here's one that was a surprise - really wasn't expecting to like it at all! - but have blitzed through The Detectorists - a series about metal detector hobbyists, starring, written and directed by Mackenzie Crook (mentioned earlier this month!)

A gentle comedy, that is so much better than it sounds. I realise I am late to the party on this one - it won BAFTA awards - but it is surprisingly addictive. Not sure if it would translate well to other countries, but I loved the setting.

It is quite simply one of the best comedies I've ever seen. I've been rewatching it again myself.

Toby Jones is an excellent and very versatile character actor.
I get this excellent series via the Britbox or Acorn streaming service... forget which one
