I remember the watching the news back then and the scary question was how far the radioactive contamination would reach. The series feels authentically 80s.
 
Now watching Deadwood: The Movie. And I'm posting here. They can call it a cocksucking movie all they like, I don't care. Good thing I had some Ledaig 10 year old left in the cupboard!
 
I caught a few episodes of Lovejoy on one of the streaming services this week (I now have a few streaming subs rather than cable or satellite video services and my cost is 10% of what it was per month.... my news is now mostly via the web and I do miss the Local TV stations but I am too rural for getting them over the air. with luck some of them will also offer full access over the internet. (I am very lucky to live on the same road as the county magnet high school so when they got fiber internet at very high speed so did I)

I expect it was on the BritBox or Acorn service and i found it a delightful diversion and a look at kindler and gentler vintage of TV.... McShane has had an amazing late flowering of his career after some years in the TV wilderness.
 
Lovejoy was a big series in the UK in the 1970's & 80's. Nice to see it about elsewhere. .

This site is still very much active and thriving. Wow!

Currently watching: The Swamp Thing, Black Mirror and every sf/f and anime in Netflix I can find the time to watch.

I read that Season 2 of The Swamp Thing has been cancelled which is such a bummer :( I've seen only two episodes so far but it was spooky and creepy and um really wet and marshy! It was the most un DC series I've ever watched. Its darker even than The Titans. I do hope some other network picks it up.

Am trying to slowly savor the few eps of Season 5, since there are only 3! I liked Black Mirror better than the new Twilight Zone remakes.
Bandersnatch was gold though! I made 4 to 5 playthroughs...or should that be watchthroughs? :D The whole interactivity, choose your own adventure genre was a unique and fun experience. I hope Netflix makes more episodes like it :)

Sadly, I think that Swamp Thing is doomed. Since DC is consolidating it’s properties into their own DC Universe streaming service, I don’t think a third party network would be allowed to take it over.

I keep meaning to start on the Expanse, but just haven't yet. Hopefully this weekend. And now it seems I need to try Chernobyl, too.

One movie I did just see (recently put on Netflix) was Solo - a star wars story.

Disclaimer: I'm not a "fan". I don't know all the details of the Star Wars universe. But I've seen enough of the Star Wars movies to follow along the main plot points.

And I saw this movie about Solo as just that - a movie about Solo - which I didn't know much about. I've always hated Harrison Ford's portrayal of Han Solo, don't know why folks are so enamored of him. So for me, this new movie added some endearing meat to Solo's character, distanced the character from the original actor, and we got to know more about Chewy. For me, it was all good.

Now, we just need a story/movie showing us how Chewy got in that pit to begin with... ;)
 
Finally done with the 3 eps of Black Mirror. Not my favorite season, but still better than the 2019 Twilight Zone IMHO.

I will have to watch Chernobyl based on all the good reviews I've read about it :)

I watched the 10 min clip from the first episode that they have put up on YouTube and now I am waiting for one of the streaming services like BritBox.com or Acorn.com to offer it as it looked good to me.
 
Have seen the first episode. Found it guilty of trying a little too hard myself, but am told it settles down after this. Am hoping so.

Love Matt Berry, but I think I prefer the TV series of What We Do in the Shadows, which Matt is in as well. both being shown on rival TV channels here.
 
Half way through the third season of The Expanse. I am of mixed feelings about it.

On one hand, I really like all the characters. Just about all of them. That's a hard thing to do. Usually there's one or two characters that I don't like for one reason or another. Or the casting was off and the actor/actress suck. But I like all the characters as the talented cast portray them. So, major points on that count.

But the plot is so contrived and predictable. And sometimes the characters do things that are completely out of character just for the sake of conflict or furthering the stupid plot.

I suspect this is a result of taking a long book series that probably developed some intricate plot over several books that the TV writers then had to simplify.

Regardless, I like the characters enough that I'll keep watching.

Does anyone else think they got the level of technology wrong? Why isn't everyone augmented like the ill-fated spy from the first (or was it the second?) season?
 
I’ve been watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and it definitely lives up to the accolades, with a great cast and fast, witty dialogue. It manages to be both funny and serious. I finished season 1 and have started season 2. I’m positively salivating over the late 50s fashion. They’ve done an incredible job.
 
Started watching City on a Hill, a crime drama series set in Boston in the 90's, and it's quite good so far. Kevin Bacon plays the wayward cop well.
