Watched Episode 6 from House of the Dragon and it was a non-stop roller coaster - probably the fastest-paced episode with the most happenings so far; maybe it would have been nicer to see more of the main events that happen in the intervening 10 years, but my understanding that this series is planned for a fixed number of seasons (afaik the speculation is 3 or 4) as opposed to the original GoT that was either too short (the 15 or so episodes in seasons 7-8 had material for 30 episodes so they felt very jarring) or too long (with better planning it could have been wrapped in 60 episodes which imho is about the maximum one can reasonably expect to deliver consistent top TV and not suck eventually, given practical considerations but that, of course, required very different assumptions from the first episode - eg that it would take off so much as it did which was unheard for fantasy tv before then, that GRRM would never finish even book 6 which again at that point nobody, probably neither him, knew etc)
So given these considerations, I would say that Episode 6 was TV at its best keeping me on the edge of the seat from end to end, while of course leaving no time to really think as that would both detract from the enjoyment and start raising various logical questions
The new main actresses were excellent - Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra was brilliant though the younger version had a buoyancy about her, while the older Rhaenyra is all serious, while the new Alicent was also good in her relentless quest to undermine the princess' position and promote her children to power, all in the name of "decency" - I thought that a lot of touches were excellent and her shocked reaction when confronted to the practical results that followed from the new main villain acting on her wishes then giving way to acceptance that well it's (undeclared as of now) war so all means are ultimately fair, decency and all aside, was very well done. Of course, now it will be Rhaenyra's turn as after all her position was steadily growing worse so she was willing to offer major concessions to Alicent, but after the end of episode 6, I am fairly sure she will accept that war to the knife is the only way forward so am really curious what will happen next.
Also, the other new actors (Laena and Laenor) that were changed were excellent too and for once Daemon had a quieter episode, seemingly content to live well far away from Westerosi intrigue; for an episode, though it covered 10 years true...
And for the rest of the cast, Criston's announced transformation from episode 5 is completed here and I happen to agree with others that said that the character/actor is much more suited to the role of creepy villain to be hated than a shining knight in armor, while of course, the main villain to date who in a way started the process that turned Alicent against Rhaenyra in episode 4 is brilliant here too
Anyway, I think that with The Princess and the Queen the show truly came into its own and started fulfilling its early promise and I expect from now on to be must-see non-stop action and intrigue TV, the way GoT was at its best
