Bay of Fires (2023). Episode 1 - not at all what I expected. Quite a lot of fun.

The Visitor (1997) Episode 1. Of its time, but not terrible.

Danish pre and post war drama. Low key. Quirky. Watched a half dozen episodes so far. One post-war, the rest from season one. Will absolutely continue.

I‘ve finished Silo on AppleTV+ and I have to say I’m impressed. Rebecca Ferguson has really captured the character of Juliette (Jules) from Hugh Howey‘s novel Wool. Although it was necessarily adapted for TV, it stays very close to the spirit of the novel. It ends somewhat before the novel does, but at a perfect point for the season, with an amazing reveal in the last scene. This is just as dark, gritty, and claustrophobic as it should be. Definitely recommended!

My wife and I watched this show and LOVED it. We considered reading the novels but we're going to just wait it out for more seasons.

And I violated my own request that access for streaming shows be stated.
I watched it on our PBS subscription access. Nine seasons so far. Some(?) seasons appear to be on Apple and Amazon. Non-US access???

Been watching the first season of The Wild, Wild West on Prime. Casual sexism aside, it's a fun Steampunk precursor. Robert Conrad and Ross Martin worked well together, and as the season moved on Martin's character seemed get more to do, which was for the good of the show. Meantime, Conrad was one of the few "spies" on TV at the time who looked like he know what a fight was, much less how to do it. It is (unintentionally) funny to note how they stretched the run time with multiple fight scenes.

The Water Margin (1973) . First episode of the English dub from 1976.
Remember this in 1976, AF. My Dad liked it, but I think it was "too violent" for me (I would have been about 12 at the time.) Kung Fu was OK to watch - not this. Interesting to see if it holds up.

I finished the final season of Jack Ryan on Prime
Just finished the first season here. Thought it was good, but giving them a break before starting the next season.

Been watching the first season of The Wild, Wild West on Prime.
Not on Prime here, sadly. Be interested to give these a look actually, as they were not really given much of a showing in the UK originally. Have seen clips but little more.

Here I have been rewatching Season 2 of Babylon 5 (generally good- scripts very good, effects have dated!) and Yellowjackets, which is turning into a sort've upgraded Lost meets Twin Peaks. Not what I was expecting, but good so far. On Paramount + here.

Formulaic but like comfort food, with the James Bondian hero who is irresistible to women and a horn dog sidekick; but it's often witty -- especially the episodes with Michael Dunn as Dr. Miguelito Lovelace -- and as it went along I think it became more and more steampunk-like. For me, it's fun going through seeing the familiar faces. One episode had Elisha Cook, Jr. (The Maltese Falcon), Leslie Nielson (Forbidden Planet, Airplane) and Katherine Ross (The Graduate, The Stepford Wives) and a face I recall from several TV shows, including Twilight Zone, Harry Townes.

I watched Drops of God - "A woman discovers the world's greatest wine collection that's left by her estranged father and competes against his protege to claim her inheritance."

It was very well done - great locations and cinematography, one of the better series I've watched in a while, recommended.

My wife and I just got done watching Season 2 of The Bear. Absolutely fantastic show, anyone else checked it out?
I started but found the constant talking/yelling a bit much. Might get back to it as it's pretty much universally acclaimed!

Yeah, that is definitely the style they are going for. Very erratic. Reminds me a little bit of the movie Uncut Gems.

Folks, I have just watched one of the greatest episodes of Star Trek ever! Star Trek Strange New Worlds just released “Subspace Rhapsody” which is its long awaited musical episode. Yes people, it is really a musical, and a Broadway-style musical. Let me tell you, it’s really good. I was really surprised at the singing and dancing talents of the cast. They were selected to be in a SiFi show after all.

In “Subspace Rhapsody,” the crew encounters a subspace phenomenon that induces them to break into song and reveal their innermost feelings. The episode features 10 original songs. It has boldly gone where trek has never gone before, and is the first musical episode in the franchise’s history. That would be something in itself, but it’s not just a tangent or a gimmick, many of the ongoing storylines are either advanced or resolved in this episode. It’s heavy with lore as well as song

The actors have told the press how much they loved the episode and how much extra effort they put into it. It could have come off as a joke, but it was taken just seriously enough, but not too seriously. The directors leaned into making it as a special episode, with certain scenes reminiscent of music videos, and of course broadway productions. They enlisted professional choreographers and vocal coaches, and the end result seems so much more than just a novelty.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds has taken the viewers on a number of different journeys this season, from the crossover episode with the animated Star Trek Lower Decks series “Those Old Scientists” to the ultra-dark “Under the Cloak of War.” It’s working on becoming my favorite Star Trek series!
