TV Series or Show You're Watching

Current Watching:

I have watched Season 1 before, but started again (I don't remember anything about it anyway.) Not a slog, but keeping going because I understand it gets better later.....
I started watching this because I had just finished Lost and this also has Michael Emerson in it. Unfortunately it wasn't of interest to me so I didn't watch more than the first two episodes.

I like Emerson a lot. The first season so far is.... OK. I'm watching because I'm told it gets better. We'll see!

I just started watching The Dresden Files TV Series which I found on the free Tubi Streaming Service. This is of course adapted from the books by Jim Butcher. There seems to only be one season which premiered in 2007. Harry Dresden is portrayed by Paul Blackthorne. Seems like a decent attempt, but given the amount and generally high regard for the source material, it seems like it should have made it for more than a single season. The first episode is pretty interesting, and serves as a backstory for Harry as well as an adventure when he protects a gifted child (like he was) from dark forces.

Thought Paul Blackthorne was good, but the changing of Bob from the books was a disappointment. Realise that it would have been done for budgetry reasons, though, no doubt. Surprising to think that the series is nearly 20 years old!!

I breezed through Walking Dead series 5 and am now well into series 6, but I think series 5 was my favourite so far. I absolutely love this program. It reminds me of a really good SF novel, with just the right balance of hectic scenes and suspiciously calm passages, fantastic - even beautiful - settings, believable character development and (mostly) very good dialog. The special effects are particularly noteworthy and the continued use of analog film cameras is the icing on the cake.

My wife and were huge fans until Season 7. Over the subsequent next 2 seasons, we just kind of lost interest.

I’m watching Season 2 of Monarch Legacy of Monsters on AppleTV, and it’s pretty good. There’s a new creature, Titan X, that seems to have been released into the world by the actions of the Monarch team (shown above). There’s some cool timey wimey stuff occurring involving the two Russells. Then there’s another team working at cross purposes to Monarch. That’s a lot of stuff going on, which leads to some exciting episodes.

Started, "The Winter King" series. Based on an Arthurian interpretation by Bernard Cornwell. I read that trilogy a couple of years ago and really liked it. It was a different take on the usual King Arthur stuff. I can't say the film version follows the book well. The book version was a far more flippant Arthur character. The film Arthur is pretty serious all the time. So far anyway.

Watched about 3-4 episodes. Maybe I'll actually finish a series. Time will tell.

Rewatching another series I watched 40-odd years ago, but remember very little.... all those 'cutting edge' fashions now seem rather quaint! (And hasn't Adama from Battlestar Galactica changed?)

DEADBEATY2014S01E001-lgi-landscape-poster-1920X1080-PSTL.jpg

I’ve been watching Deadbeat on Tubi. It was originally a Hulu Series that premiered in 2014. It’s a horror sitcom that features medium Kevin Pacalioglu, who is played by Tyler Labine. Kevin is a simple guy whose main interests in life are smoking cannabis and chowing down. He’s an orphan, who has been able to see the spirits of the dead since childhood. He is a good hearted guy, who wants to help these ghosts find their way into the light by resolving whatever unfinished business is keeping them tied to the mortal plane.

This is a pretty light hearted series in spite of all the death related content. Kevin is always getting into humorous situations, and bumbling his way through them. The episodes are about a half hour long, so they aren’t a big time commitment. There are three seasons total.

Walking Dead Seasons 7 & 8 were hard going at times, very violent and slightly repetitive, but I kept enjoying them enough to watch them (and listening to the excellent Walking Dead 'Cast podcast as accompaniment). Season 9, which I'm now most of the way through has been a much lighter - though no less shocking - series and I have to say it's been one of my favourite seasons of all.

Well, it is finished. Good Omens Season 3 consists of one single 90-min. episode to wrap up the story. Really, it does a good job of doing just that. It focuses on the Second Coming of Christ, who is a bit confused about the whole affair. Aziraphale, now Supreme Archangel, needs Crowley's help as plans for the Second Coming go awry. They have to save the Universe from both Angels and Demons, even making the ultimate sacrifice to do so. But fear not, we know this series has to have a positive ending. Enjoy!
