What games are you playing?

I have returned to Train Simulator from Transport Fever. Here's a video of one of my most recent Quick Drive sessions, a shortish (24min) passenger run along Canal Line steam workshop route, with a Stroudley A1X Terrier.

Been playing more TS2021, including Standard Scenarios (as opposed to Quick Drives), which I too seldom do. Perversely, two scenarios in a row failed due to game A.I. sending my train down the wrong track at the destination location.

I created another TS2021 video, followup to my previous posting. Same Workshop route. Same train. Same station stops. Only, this new episode is the return trip, an uphill climb:

One-trick-pony that I am, I continue to play TS2021 unchallenged. I've acquired a new locomotive for it, Caledonia Works recently released LNWR 2-2-2 No3020 "Cornwall", a rather old single-wheeler. (Single-wheeler refers it its having only one set of driving wheels, the middle '2' of 2-2-2.) I captured footage of its maiden voyage, seen traveling along a favorite Steam Workshop route:

I'm back into Cyberpunk 2077 (on PS4 pro o_O). I've been cleaning the maps off all the side quests, waiting for a more stable version to start the main quests. The game may be grainy but it's still playable (not much bugs or freezes so far) but, yes, it's disgusting.I hope the 1.3 will be out before Mass Effect Legendary Edition because otherwise, CP77 will have to wait for another year... or not.

Alien: Isolation. Bloo-Dee hell this is a great game. If you are a fan of Alien or even remotely interested in it you must play this game. Turn the lights out, the sound up and be prepared to jump and scream in fright.

Yesterday, for the first time in years, my PC audio systems rear channels kicked in at start-up, and remained functional the entire day! TS2021 is ever so much more enjoyable when surrounded by well-placed train sounds! Ended up driving I decent number of scenarios to completion. The game credited only one of them as a success. I suspected that was likely to happen. My downfall is, more often than not, falling behind schedule. Some scenarios are stricter about keeping to timetables than others. Some jettison them altogether. Yesterday's scenarios were strict. Timetable failures don't bother me, for the most part, so long as I execute all individual components (minus timetable) satisfactorily, as was the case in all but one of yesterday's scenarios.

Have to admit I hoped yesterday's final scenario would be flagged as complete. It went very well. I was only a couple of minutes behind by its end. Nope, failure. What's more, I was credited with only four of the nine stations my train stopped at. Such is life along the rails, I reckon.

Here's the loco I drove that final scenario, though the image is from a different scenario earlier in the day:

(I intended to return to that final scenario this morning and film it, failure or no failure. Alas, I proceeded to make one stupid driving error after another. Called it quits at the third station stop. Yesterday's drive, discounting timetable, was well-nigh errorless. Errorless by rookie standards, that is.)

Here's visual documentation of my struggles at becoming a minimally competent TS2021 train driver. Lots of shunting here, which I'm very rusty at. Still, I don't end up with so much egg on my face that I'm mistaken for an omelet:

Aside from Train Simulator, I'm doing no gaming at all. I keep telling myself I'm going to upgrade Daggerfall Unity to its latest Beta version, but never drum up the mental energy to do so. It's an age thing, I suspect.

Gaming for me continues to be TS2021 centric, bordering on exclusive. Here's yet more documentation of my time there, in this case a short video (by Train Sim standards) of my driving the finale leg of a scenario driven in full during the previous episode. A corrective to having overshot a red signal between penultimate station and terminus:

Days Gone.

I've been on this for 90 hours so far and am really enjoying it. Probably another 20 or 30 hours to finish, depending on how much time I lose on the side tasks.

Everquest 2 Tarinax Server / new pvp server launched a couple of weeks ago running levels 1 thru 70 classic EQ2 content.

Having a blast re-running old group content dungeons while watching your six for enemy players who want to try and take your stuff, lol.

Man was I addicted to first Meridian59, then EQ1&2 back in the day! Too addicted. After 12 years of MMOs absorbing every free moment of my life, I at last kicked my habit, thanks to two factors. First, I didn't enjoy Raids, and the EQ guild I belonged to for years eventually turned into a raiding guild. I ended up spending most of my time playing what had been a secondary character, building fancy living abodes. That was fun, but not enough so to keep me interested in the long term. Second, I bought TES4:Oblivion in 2009. It became my new addicted.

Nowadays I don't game as much as I used to. Don't have the mental endurance for it. Have hardly gamed at all the past month and a half. RL events and a bout of poor health stopped me in my tracks. Speaking of tracks, I just recently resumed Train Simulator again, surprising myself in capturing raw footage and preparing an uploadable video from it, all it one day. Here it is:

I've been in a gaming-slump some time now. About the only recent gaming activity worth mentioning, to the limited extent it's mention-worthy, is publishing a short video documenting my last successful drive. It features an LNWR "Greater Britain" steam loco in Lavender & Cream livery, which I find quite photogenically appealing:

I have increased the demand for internet censorship by publishing yet another Train Simulator video. This one sees a (British) Great Western Railway (GWR) class 3031 "Dean Single" steam loco pull GWR Concertina Coaches along Western Branch Lines, a WIP SteamWorkshop route. The video's outro got hit by an unwarranted Copyright Claim. Knowing I can't win despite being in the right, I substituted a less apt closer. It is what it is.

In other gaming news, I played nine game of Solitile last night, winning the third.

Jumped in to take a look at Amazon's new MMO...."New World". Beautifully rendered world. So much so that I had to turn down shadows & water effects to slow my PC down.

The launch apparently exceeded even Amazon's projections. Servers fill up quickly. A low pop server fills so fast in a couple of days that getting back in to play a lvl 15 character (like last night) found me with a queue of nearly 400. Just created that character on Saturday afternoon.

I'm on my 2nd alternate character since Saturday. Created 1 on a a low population server on Sunday, tried to get back in last night and that server had filled to a 200 person queue. Deleted that character and created a new one on another server. Will check it tonight before dinner to see if I can play.

I like the game, but may have to give it a rest until things level off.

I've done next to go gaming for some time now. Been too devoted to reading. However, Train Simulator video uploaded to YT some time ago reached its publish date this morning. It's my fourth episode showcasing Western Branch Lines, Steam Workshop route. It's a short run, rather scenically pleasant:

Things have gotten better over at Amazon's new MMO "New World". No more queues to get in. I like this game quite a bit. It's gameplay fits right in with my busy real life schedule. The harvesting & crafting systems are fun. And the fishing quest line is a hoot.

My wife & I and another friend have created a guild (company in this game) called...wait for it..."Knights of the Reelm".

Anyway, I like the fact that I can just head off into the world and quest, harvest, mine, cut lumber & explore new stuff & fight undead. Lots of undead in this game.

I also like trying to climb mountains and get into places most people won't bother with . The artwork and landscape animation is simply stunning.
