What games are you playing?

Gears of War 3

waiting for the new Dragon Age 2 DLC Mark of the Assasin to come out October 11th

While watching television last night (Sci-Fi channel), there was an extended advertisement/introduction to a new game - Rage. Apparently its from the makers of Doom and Quake, although I believe this game will be playable on the consoles, also. If time were no object, I'd be hip deep in that one.

I thought some of the fallout 3 guys worked on that Rage thingy. I'm intrigued but I don't think any of my friends are really.

id are now owned by ZeniMax/Bethesda, so perhaps that's where that's coming in? As far as I know they're still largely independent.

Well I finished GOW3 and although it was fun I'm feeling a little let down, for those who played the first two games it's more of the same with some neat set pieces. The story is still utter nonsense though :)

I take it I'm not missing anything much (Bar ass-kicking blonde lady) by only having Gears of War 1 then, kater?

Isn't advertising a hell of a thing? The Hope Sandoval music and inspiring slug-line had me wondering if I was missing out on kind of a cool story there by not having an X-box lol.

I heard Arkham City on PC got pushed back until next year. I wept. Then I got mad. Then I threw up.

You heard wrong. It's only until November, but that puts it right in the firing line of both Modern Borefare 3: Shameless Cash-In Yet Again! and TES V: Skyrim: Finally, A New Engine!, so really it's not got a hope in the market. I'm getting my copy next year when the price has come down, both to spite Rocksteady for the utter trash they keep talking and also because I'm a very cheap person.

Cheers. I have to stop listening to that friend about certain things I guess. November is perfect that's actually closer to my birthday. Modern Whatfare? (insert skyrim joke that won't get me banned here)! What trash has Rocksteady been talking exactly? I don't actually follow video game news that closely.

Basically, Rocksteady are acting as if these "PC exclusive features" such as "PhysX" and "higher quality textures" are something PC gamers should be overjoyed to have, when in fact I have games five+ years old with PhysX capabilities and higher quality textures are pretty much accepted as the norm. There's also the continued use of Games for Windows Live, something I personally don't mind, but I know it causes a lot of issues for people whether it's vanishing saves/corrupt saves (Which Arkham Asylum apparently had a lot of issues with) or some other problem.

And I'm sure you know what Modern Borefare is ;)

The next game on my list and made of awesome :p :)

Don't get me wrong GOW 2 + 3 are good games but it always feels like something is lacking, plus it's pretty much the same thing three times. Not enough variety imo and a massive amount of tropes in the story that never grabbed me despite all the ingredients being there.

I've decided to play through Borderlands again after I saw the news for the second game. I've already completed it with Mordecai (both normal and 2nd playthrough) so I'll give Roland a go this time. I love the game, totally my type of thing!

I'm playing it now and feel pretty much the same. In fact if there is a GOW 4 I probably won't bother with it, unless they change something substantially.

I've been buying a heap of classics from GOG.com - even some games I already have on CD or DVD. It's more convenient to have them DRM-free without any need for rego codes / serial numbers. Plus many have been tweaked to run on Win 7.

Oh, and Minecraft ...

Speaking of GOG, I just downloaded the 2.0 patch for Witcher 2, which now adds a tutorial and an Arena mode, as well as a new difficulty setting (and werevolves I think). Tried the tutorial and gave Arena a shot, and I really like it. Nice way to practice your strategies against different types of enemies.
And I almost forgot how absolutely beautiful this is, amazing.:o

Other than that I've been playing The Binding of Isaac, which is great (if a bit buggy) and bulding my hype for Dark Souls and Skyward Sword.:)

Been playing Rage and enjoying it a lot. It's a faster paced version of Fallout and while not as big of an open world the fighting is so much better.

Looking forward to Batman coming out next week.
